Long-Distance Gift for China

United States

Hey Mylotters...specifically those in China! My friend has been living in China for the past 5 years and since then, I have only sent her a Christmas gift a few times. This year I would like to give her something, but I am tight financially. Paying for shipping from the U.S. to China is ridiculously expensive, and so I would like to order something there to be delivered to her. When you do online shopping, what sites do you use? Are there any English language sites that could be used? Thanks in advance!

If you can order something online, then so can she as I am sure she has internet. I would consider mailing her a personal but small gift to her. Perhaps, go shopping at a local craft store and buy her a hand-painted scarf or a small, flat Christmas decoration. Or perhaps, a hand-crafted pair of earrings or other jewelry. I would buy something special for her that she would not be able to get in China. I am sure she would prefer a small gift that is thoughtful purchased just for her rather than a gift in which you save money in postage, that is bought online. Just my suggestion.

Yes, that is what we normally do. However, my whole family wants to send things to her, and one small box alone costs $50. We usually put in actual pictures, cards, and small gifts. She has started a tradition of ordering something from Amazon for each of us every year, and she gives us things from China or other nearby countries when she visits the U.S.
