Partly an odd beauty service: Ear cleaning

Philippines

The Philippines has indeed lots of beauty services to choose from, many go from traditional, modern, and international beauty services. This is because physical beautification and pampering is well endorsed in the country as a form of business opportunities. On the contrary, many beauty businesses have made new forms of services to cater the needs of those clients who want to be embellished. I don’t know if this is found in your common beauty servicing shops but this has been a trend in my locality most especially in barbershops, and massage parlours. They have this “Ear Cleaning” service which the beautician/personnel will clean your ears with the use of a metal or wooden ear cleaner. Have you come across such beauty service? Well personally, I haven’t tried it yet because I am afraid that they will irritate my ear and I am a bit embarrassed that somebody will clean my ears because I can do it personally and hygienically, I rather clean it myself.

I rather clean my ears than to embarrass myself too. That shocking services! What would be the next? Picking nose's dirt? Oh shocking! But whatever it is, it is still a legal job. Can't find fault for the business people as they always thinking new services to offer to. LOL

I first seen this kind of service in KMJS in GMA7. It was featured a year ago. ear cleaning is just an additional service in parlors and barber shop but originally done it in a wellness spa. Ear candling are done in spa were they used a special kind of wax paper, formed in to a cone and is inserted through the ear and have to burn it 1/4. then after wards the ear wax would stick to the paper. I have never done this but I think it is a good service since I myself can't see whats inside my ear. I would consider this if done by an expert.

In China, most of their salon provides cleaning of ears out of cotton buds. It sounds strange but they really do. The service is a bit backward as compared to ear suction gadgets.

I have not come across such beauty service for now but then when I read your post I am thinking to try it sometime. I think just like massage, one gets a feeling relaxation when the ear is being cleaned with those some kind of ear cleaner.

I have mine done by the doctor, and I don't mind. I am okay. I had it done personally but I had a problem so I need the doc to have it done for me. About your discussion, anything to earn money. Why not? the question could be.. are you willing to do that job. Will you clean someone else's ear?

Well hygienically, i would rather do mopping the floors to earn some decent money rather than to clean someone else's body dirt. just saying. Thanks for your reply.

Yeah I saw one when my husband brought me along when he had a haircut at his favorite barbershop. I read all the services offered on the board and I saw ear cleaning. I even chuckled because I really thought it was funny. It's a big shop and it's full but no one at that time took that service, most just haircut and massage. I think it would be embarassing really. I asked my husband and he said he would never avail of such service either. You're right we all can do it on our own anyway.

i have not tried this one. i remember that when i was a kid, my elder sister would clean my ears. and everytime she did that on me, i did not feel comfortable at all. i always felt that my ears would be damaged or something. and now that i could do it by myself, i do not allow anyone touch my ears. i am not sure if i am alone in feeling this way.

Oh my, I would think that those people who needed to get a treatment for ear cleaning is just damn lazy. Even a kid could that on their own. I don't think anyone needs a professional to do that for a fee.

I wouldn't spend 350php or around $9 for ear candling! I can do that myself and that is absolutely free of charge!

Well, I am from India and here there are people on the roadsides in some towns who provide this ear cleaning service. I have never got it done. I think no one should. As doctors say, the ear has its own self-cleaning process and you should not put anything in your ear to clean it. You may just end up damaging the ear drum. So, in my opinion, please don't try it.
