There might be many reasons. God can change our life time, if he finds that it serves a good purpose in a long run. The water above the earth, described in Genesis, seems to be water wapor that had a greenhouse effect and made the climate warm and even around the earth before the Great Flood, and also made it possible for the mammoths to live very far in the North. It came down and drowned the earth. The climate became different, as the protecting water vapor was not there any more. Now all living could get stronger radiation from the sun and from the space. Before the flood people were vegetarians, and they were close to the originally perfect human couple, not so many generations from Adam and Eve. We have a wonderful hope that the earth will once again be a paradise, just like God's purpose was from the beginning, and all human beings, who obey him, can live for ever in the paradise as it is described in Psalm 37:29. Have a great day..

Low genetic variation makes people more susceptible to some diseases, researchers have found. They had 8 people who saved. From this we can conclude that Genesis told in long lifespans began to decrease significantly after the flood.

As I understand your question, you are asking why people of long ago before the Great Flood (Genesis 7:12) in the time of Noah have lived so long than those who have existed after Noah. Consider these: "Then the Lord said, 'My Spirit will not contend with humans foreever, for they are mortal; their days will be a hundred and twenty years.'"-- Genesis 6:3

After the Great Flood, the Bible has this to say: "Our days may come to seventy years, or eighty, if our strength endures; yet the best of them are but trouble and sorrow, for they quickly pass, and we fly away." --- Psalm 90:10 God may have set our lifespan as God has power over time. "He said to them: 'It is not for you to know the times or dates the Father has set by His own authority.'" --- Acts 1:7 The environment could have also contributed to the deteriorating condition of human strength and resistance. As time passes, man is able to pollute his environment to his detriment. The eating habits of man may also be a factor. Before, man used to eat plenty of vegetables and fish meat. When man began to eat various animal meat, he became vulnerable to various diseases. That could be the reason why God forbade eating of animal fat from Israel's diet.
