I do not know why, but I heard that on average women consumes 344 more calories per day than 35 years ago... Currently about 61% are overweight, and 35 years ago only 41% were overweight... Is there a problem with all the food that we eat today?

Yes Season2, we all want to be slim and good looking, but we do not always want to sacrifice. Exercise is hard work and we so easy find excuses for not getting up from our lazy b*t and do it. Hard work do brings on good results.

Yeah, I think its all those processed and comfort foods. Think about how many of us would rather eat hamburgers and slurpees than eating a balance food. Im sometimes like like because the craving is high. haha. I rely on comfort and junk foods everyday. But still I strive to balance my meals and exercise atleast an hour a day.

Good for you for exercising!I agree... its comfort foods and it is oh so nice....If we do not put deliberate effort in to live healthier, we're gonna pay a hefty price, hey! Good luck in striving to balance your meals.

Definitely! First of all, the food in general is less healthy, I think, and second of all, we all have much more goodies to choose from. I think our parents and grandparents didn't grow up having treats all the time, but focused mostly on basic food, but we can eat only snacks and sugary stuff all the time if we want, these things are available everywhere now. And I also think people move less. A lot of people work in front of computers and stuff now, that didn't use to be the case. And if you don't move, and eat more... well, you gain weight. Simple as that!

Yah, there were no snacks; take-away's, fast food...I wonder if there are not too much hormones in our food now???

People are also more hurried now than before, so they don't have time to cook, to eat at regular times, 3 meals on a day, taking their time. So they eat fast, very often fast food, they don't take care about the 3 meals thing, they eat more on evenings, because they have more time than. Changed ingredients can also be a reason. But I guess that if the average weight is changing, also the beauty standars will. And being as fat as to have healthy problems is not that commun and is connected to the body functioning more than to eating habits.

Spicymary, I think also it's because our lifestyles had changed. Everything around us is faster and we do hurry with food! I cannot remember when last I had 3 proper meals a day.... It's just grab and chew on the run!!! I have noticed here in South Africa our young teen age girls are much more plumper than girls 15 years ago...

most food today contain more calories and people prefer fast food due to the fast pace life. Therefore, there are more and more people overweight. Sometimes, people cannot balance their food. This will also lead to overweight.
