Of Character and Reputation

I was going through some old newspapers and came across Francis Kong's weekend column for the Philippine Star. Here he talked about CHARACTER and REPUTATION---something that I have been wondering about for quite some time now. In a nutshell, Francis Kong wrote that reputation can easily spun by a good resume or a write up by a very credible writer; while character is a measurement of a person's inherent qualities that defines his moral and ethical actions and re-actions. Obviously, the better judge of corporate worth is character. Unfortunately, it is not something that can be measured by theoretical data. Character is best shown during conflict and stress. The thing is, this can only come to fore once the person has been hired already. Hiring a person with a flawed character is detrimental to any company especially if that person holds a position of leadership. Do you have this person in your company?
