Yesterday, I come across a profoundly scene. One of my neighborhood young boy is sleeping souddly and comfortably in the sofa ,with the IV on,when his mother comes in and shut the television, blaming him for not having turned off the television once again. This phenomenon can be found any where in our daily life. Many people are used to doing everything with the TV on,not actually watching it at all. This can cause wate of much electricity and energy, and it diavates from the popular concept of low carbon like---to reduce the emmision of carbon, expercially carbon dioxide,to protect our enviroment and realize sustainable development. To serve as responsible stewards of our planet, we must promote and populize low carbon life among puble from every detail in our daily life,we must change the past pratice of sacrifising the long-term enviroment health for short-term economic development, and shift to green development, circular economy and low carbon economic.

I'm like the person up there that mentioned sleeping better with the tv. Its the only way I can find right now to help make my sleep paralysis a little less frightening and easier to come out of. I've tried other things, but they don't seem to have the same effect. The tv does go off during the day time. It will even auto shut itself off after a certain amount of time. I didn't realize about the carbon thing though. I'll keep looking for other ways.

Thanks!According to statistics,if we can decrease the time of having the TV on by one hour each day,we can reduce the amount of carbon emmision by 4.71 kilogram each month. If everyone of us do more a little, our world would be a better world.

With every single simple things we can help our environment.. like what you just write in here about turning off the television when no one is watching.. we don't realize something til its gone or broken so we must do something even in our on little way to help save our environment.. its for our own sake and for the future of our children..

The climate issue that is currently faced by the world is profoundly linked to the life style that people are following, as the energy consumption and CO2 emission in everyday life are the major contributor to the environmental challenge. Difficult as it will be, altering the living style to accommodate a lower carbon footprint is essential to reduce the total CO2 emission and thus decelerate the global warming. What people may not be realizing at the moment is that small changes can make big difference. A few degrees in the AC, lowering the monitor brightness will all help to bring down the carbon footprint.

Yes, just recently I've become aware of this, and have started shutting my TV off accordingly. I used to literally leave my TV on 24/7, and now I only have it on when I'm watching it. Well, that's not completely true, as I do like to sleep with the TV on. I know, that was kind of the thing that sparked your though behind this post, but, I do sleep a little better when the TV is on. It drowns out the outside world, and helps me get a full nights sleep. But, any other time, I try to keep it shut off, unless I'm watching a show. I've noticed a nice dip in my electric bill, that's for sure.

Well,I totally agree with your notion. In fact,we're not only used to keeping Tv running idle, but also some other devices around our life, like computers, which also contribute a lot to the carbon emmision.Today,I listened to a World Bank report saying there will be a 7.2 degree Farrenheit increase in the global temperature. As a mother of a one-year-old,I'm really concerned about her future.I by no means expect my daughter someday to face a desperate plight. In my opinion,if we want the carbon-reduction causes to gain momentum,we have to get them appeal to the self-interest of others. That's why many are indifferent to this issue. Many of us may have enough sense of the result but many keep indifferent and hardly take action practically. It appears to be a matter about the future, but people tend to be more concerned about the present. This is human nature. So if any compulsory measures should be drawn into the present life without infringement on individual freedom and rights,is a big question.Of course,in my opinion, the normal function of a compulsory scheme,if any,can only be achieved under a transparent political system which abiding by law.Noticing that the host is from China,so I stress the role of the political system.Beside the individual efforts, more can only be achieved under a democratic and transparent political system.

Thanks for your concern. Well, from my viewpoint,to improve this situation has more to do with awareness than so call democratic and political system. Of course, this is by no means to belittle a country's democratic and political system. Compulsory methods could force us not to do sth out of our will, but self-awareness could ultimately serve the purpose. Mention about the indifference of most human being ,Why not try to arouse their concerns by relevant education campaign or the desperate outlook without due attention?
