Giving to Christmas Carolers

With the start of Simbang Gabi also marked the start of Christmas carolers doing their house to house serenade. Some people find it irritating and brand it an outright disturbance and would shoo them away like the incessant fly. I don't think that's living up to the spirit of Christmas. Which is why I make it a point to set aside coins to give to the carolers. Php 2 from December 16-December 23 and Php 5 on December 24.
So, how do you treat carolers?

i'm one of those people who sort of shoo carolers away. not all though, just those children who deliberately ruin the carols they sing. i know that i shouldn't since it's the christmas season and all, but some could be really rude, and if you gave them an amount which they feel is too small, you'll be hearing non-christmasy words from them.

yes, i also discriminate those who ruin the spirit of the effort. when i was younger, we would not just simply do it for the money but for the camaraderie forged by the activity.
well, i have encountered my share of the unappreciative ones who would sing nasty things after i've given them php 2. this is what ruins the spirit.

Honestly I've been shooing some carolers that is coming in my boarding house. Why can't I when everyday they come at my door and sing. These carolers are the little children just living around our corner and whom I see everyday. 
I am being irritated because they don't even fix their tunes haha. I just give them coins then tell them to just come back again the next day or go the next door. haha.

we differ in our treatment in terms of being choosy in giving to carolers. i give to those i know and is discriminate with those i don't. the thing about carolers nowadays is that they form a big group and then break into groups of two's and do your house one after the other. very sneaky. of course you won't really know if that's the case. for me, if they sing good and give me that feeling of christmas---i give.
