...what's your pet name for your pet?

when it comes to pets and dogs, we try to give our dogs a name that we can call and make them personable. Although I have yet to prove or give some evidence on my own that my dog actually replies to his given name,I also gave him a pet name which translate to 'a beautiful mat' (as in like a doormat). I gave him this pet name because he looks like a mat when hes lying on the floor. He has a light brown coat that might be mistaken for a mat. Also, I call him a stuff toy because he does look like one when he's still, with no tongue or tail wagging. Once my cousin mistook him for one and gave him a a b tight hug,he yelped and nearly bit him. Any additonal names for your dog?

My parents named every animal with an S-name. My husband and I however try to fit the name to the pet. We have a German Shepard named Harmony. I named her that because I said we needed some harmony in our lives. Is she harmonious? No way. She will bark and bark at our friends until the pet her. If they stop petting her she starts barking again. Several years back when we took in a pregnant dog we had trouble coming up with names. We kept two of the pups, Zen and Diesel. They are boxer/pit mix. Zen is the one whom looks all powerful and pit like. He's the calmer of the two. Zen is taller and lankier and the hyper one. I once made an extensive list of names because I was working for a rescue group and we didn't want to have to repeat the same names. We have a cat named Little Bit. But it can easily be manipulated into other forms using those letters when she is being a brat!

Glad I could make you laugh. We have 7 dogs. There are of course, Zen, Diesel, Harmony, Jasper, Amber, Patch and Chief. We also have 5 cats, well, and one stray. They are Thomas, Merlin, Carly, Jade, Little Bit, and the stray we call Cinder. We had a rottweiler show up a few years ago someone had dumped. She was an older dog, with arthritis. Very, very, gentle and sweet. We named her Jasmine. We only had her two years. We were devastated when we found a lump on her and it turned out to be bone cancer. It was very agressive. While all we could see was a small lump, internally it was as large as half my rib cage. We asked if she could have had it all along. They said no, it's just that aggressive. I miss her. But I know we did what was best for her. And at least she knew love for a few years.

Guess your neighbor prefer the color type. But I'm sure they will be good dogs as well as yours.

Naming a pet is sometimes hard. Take for example our new black puppy. Automatically, we will name it blacky but sometimes my kids would still observe the new pet and name him what fits his/her personality. I mean, if the new pet is noisy, silent. etc. It is usually my kids who name our new pets. They had gotten a pair of rabbit and they still don't know what to name them. The black puppy was still named blacky.

I guess that is the transitional route - name it form the color of its coat or fur. Thing is,many people also name it that way and sometimes, the pet's coat is made up of a pattern rather than a solid color. Anyway, we still kinda stick to that - first name hm after color and eventually chnage it - after all we both doubt if the pet really understand his/her name.

When we give a name of our pet , it must agreed by whole family. Don't just give , consult other family members. This is so because all members of the family are pet lovers.

I have to agree but I guess since my brother gave him to me and I'm his primary carer - I also get to name. When we talk of expenses, this is my brother's defense - since I named him and they all went with it,I have to pay for his food and health service. I don't mind as long as he not named after a typhoon.

When I give names to pets, I choose the simple ones. Those that are very easy to say or pronounce. It's funny that my cousin spent 2 days thinking of what name will she give to her pet(pug). Haha I just wonder what took her too long!

I guess she really wants it be extra special. I don't if this pug is her nth pet but a pet is always loved and cherished .
