My wonderful wife bought me for my christmas an aquarium. I have to say i have embraced this with great enthusium and i am loving my new hobby. I have it situated next to the telly and find myself engrossed with the flickers and darting of the tropical fish and find this incredibly relaxing! who would of thought something so simple would be so relaxing? Have you found a hobby that helps your health improve?

Well, when I was younger I had a few hobbies that were detrimental to my health. Thankfully, I gave them up before they had much effect. We did have an aquarium years ago that we bought for our cats for Christmas. It was very relaxing to me. It was quite exciting for the cats but a terrifying experience for the fish, I'm sure. My only real hobby now is Origami and I think it helps me relax. Not the actual process of making something quite beautiful out of 36 pieces of intricately folded paper, but when I'm done the relief that sweeps over me after 3 hours of extreme frustration is absolutely euphoric! And the constant bending down to pick up all the crumpled and torn bits of paper from the floor I feel is good exercise. I do modular (polyhedra) Origami, just in case you were wondering.

LOL! i agree, i think my earlier hobbies may have had a direct result with my current health probs. lol! Origami sounds a fab hobby! you should take a photo of something you've made and post it on mylot. i would be very proud of anything that i made that took that much time and effort.

I have no way of uploading anything. Even if I did I wouldn't know how. I'm extremely computer illiterate. I've received 3 separate sets of instructions on how to do a screenshot (so I can get paid for something) and still can't figure it out. But here's a link to 3 of the pieces I've made http://gurmeet.net/origami/ In the fourth row down the 2 on the left and the one on the far right I've done. A few others too. Most of the models I make can't be found on the internet, they're only in books. So needless to say I have a large library of Origami books. I also do money Origami, which waitresses find quite delightful when left as a tip. You can see some here www.origami-resource-center.com/dollar-bill.html I've made a lot of these but the better designs, again, are in books. I just find working with paper fascinating.

Dear ajk Hobby for me? cooking and... of course eating as I have none around to eat what I cook I love experimenting out various dishes and even though I am unable to get most of their ingredients (either due to their unavailability or even the medical prescriptions - at times only), I dont care and do mixu up other recipes. I am unsure how far that helps me in keeping healthy, but yes, I still am underweight no matter what I eat

Sounds great, we need to relax these days and watching the nature in one form of other must be the best way. I wonder if the fishes find it relaxing to watch us??
