After one knows what is right and what is wrong, after one understands God and lives a good life, is it still necessary for those rituals that some religions insist that one must follow to get to heaven?

As far as I know, no God says the believers to follow any rituals. I mean God does not need to be so egoistic to say - do this or else... Personally, I have always felt, knowing the purpose of your life, the things you do (do the right) with complete honesty and sincerity is enough to find God and stay on the right paths.

When millions around one follow the rituals including priests, pandits, nuns and even the pope, thinking that rituals are not necessary kind of puts one in a quandary! Deep down i my heart I do feel rituals are not necessary which today have become money spinners!

I feel the best religion is to be human, and as you said when one understand what is right and wrong, and even understand god and live a good life, still necessary to follow rituals. The answer of this will be decided by you, if after not doing you feel (something is wrong) and i should follow and else with affect you, then follow. If you are in your own peace and sending same message across, no fights, no argue, sweet and smooth life, then follow what you want. If your body and mind allow you to follow something, follow, if not, then accept the situation and go with the flow. Example Some one say get up at 5 a.m. and do so and so puja, but you find it difficult, may be health is not allowing or any other thing, if you do your puja at 7-8 a.m with fresh and receive mind that is more prefect, then following something which you find difficult to follow (sorry, i hope i am not gibberish, and understood your discussions and able to do justice to my reply) Surrender

I am kind of liberated in that I no longer feel the need to follow rituals. I have direct contact with God. I have a conversation that is not from books. But those around me think differently! It is not easy to survive in an environment that thinks that rituals will take one straight to heaven

If any of my act make some one happy, then why not follow then be stubborn as not to follow, or go completely against them. When we live in family, we need to respect and accept certain things, even i don't like or follow all the things said to me, still i respect and understand the importance in my life and they are said for my good. One thing when we start thinking or saying like we achieved that stage, we are actually putting full stop to our growth. As till we live in earth we need water, food, air and basic things to survive, so we also need to remember god (pray) and follow in our day to day life. Okay, what things are told to you follow and don't want to follow???

Rituals are bit intense for me as far as entering heaven's gate goes. I think that people can have a personal relationship with a higher power and be very comfortable in it. No..I think that somewhere along the way there is this thing that happens. It is a great thing.

It takes time to get liberated from beliefs that have been instilled in us when we were kids. I have liberated myself after a lot of effort and now I am directly having a relationship with the higher power as you have put it. You get the vibes when that Power presents itself. Looking at my life specially at the time when I had met with that ghastly accident I myself was at a loss to know how what was needed to get me back on my legs was all there on a platter. Who else but this Power with whom I am constantly in touch made it possible. This accident has worked in my favour in that I am having a new lease of life with renewed vigour.

I am a Catholic. And I do try my best to be a good Christian. I believe in all the teachings of the church. And I think that whatever the Church teaches us will surely help us be redeemed.

No other religion teaches bad things. It is how each one interprets it. You must have seen how some people hate religion they do not belong to and so what is clear is that it is the individual that decides to be good or bad. We do not need religion to be good or bad. What is important is to be a good human being and for this one does not need rituals. Just my thought.
