My Cousins

Philippines

In my Mom's side they are only two siblings. My Aunt have two daughters. In my Dad's side they are three siblings. My Dad's elder sister have one child, My Dad's younger brother had one kid in his first family, in his third family he have three kids. All in all I only have seven first cousins! I never met yet in person the kids of my Uncle. My Uncle was a retired Master Sergeant in the Army and assigned in different parts of Mindanao and Visayas, Philippines. I am sure even we bump to each other, us cousins will never be known as cousins. We don't know how we looks like. No communication at all. I don't know why my Uncle or Aunt never gave us chance to introduce us even in pictures. If they have reasons, so be it. It's just frustrating not knowing anything about my first cousins. The cousin I only knew is the only daughter of Dad's elder sister. We grew up at the same town. And my two cousins in my Mom's side. My other cousins, they live in places that very far to us. Maybe when we bump to each in the future, we will just know that we are cousins by telling who are our parents' names.

Sorry to hear that you knew few first cousins. In our case, I knew most of them, even living within the same compound. We're fairly close with one another and we often celebrate Christmas and New Year with them. However we're not as closed as we used to be. Maybe because we have to focus on each other's families this time. But still the same, we love to reminisce our childhood adventures and experiences.

I have a pretty big family myself. My dad has 10 brothers and sisters, the majority of which live in Bangladesh. My mom has fewer siblings, but most of them live in Bangladesh as well. As for my first cousins, they all live near me and I've known them all my life. But I can't even imagine what it's like to live your life without knowing part of your family.

Same thing is with me in my husband's home I not know all family members like elder FIL, younger FIL because the family is big and I know only about few. Why you are worry no problem if not know they when you know feel happy.
