Are you a teachable person?

Some people feel that when they reach a certain age they shouldn't have to listen to others. Or that they are too proud to take advice from others. I know that we are all imperfect and so I know that no matter how old I get I will not be too old for advice or help. And generally those who try to help us are trying to look out for us because they care.

I am not aware of whether I am a teachable person or not. I give advice to people only when they ask for it. People are always free to learn from my presence. My very being is the teacher. If somebody cannot learn from my presence, then it is very doubtful that he will learn anything from my speech itself.

Glad to hear that you are willing to give advice to others who want help. It is good for us to set a good example that others can learn from. It is nice to be able to help individuals improve their life.

I am 50 + today, but I’m always ready to learn. I personally firmly believe that one is student through out one’s life! Since I am a Stud Vet and dealing with costly Thoroughbreds I need to keep me updated with the current trends. For getting myself updated I am very active on internet and spend at least some hours on internet to get the updates and current trends in my profession. With out learning there is no change and a life without a change is stagnation and there won't be any progress with stagnation in one's life! Thanks for the discussion, I liked predicating in it!

Glad to hear that you are eager to learn. I don't think we are ever too old to learn. We can always learn and be willing to add to your wealth of knowledge.

Yes! I am a very teachable person. But of course I know how to discern which should I consider learning and which should I rather just junk. Nobody is perfect in this world so there is no harm in learning from others. I appreciate advice, correction, criticisms and anything that will help me improve my personality and my entire life.

I agree with you. That is the thought that I often have. No one is perfect and so we can all learn. The opportunity for improvement is always there. So it is good for us to try and apply what others are saying where we can see the benefit. I too appreciate help from all types of people.

Generally I am teachable, the only thing is I am quite opinionated. Learning is a every day process, and have a teachable attitude is good for growing and it is enriching. We should appreciates those who are willing to teach and share with us their vast experience so that we do not make the same mistakes that they do. Mistakes is at time expensive ...

I agree that learning is an every day process. We are can always learn new and different things or be reminded of the things that we forget. I definitely think it is good for us to appreciate those who try and help us in some way. So many people know a great deal and we should be open to at least hearing them out even if we may not agree with everything they say. Yeah and many can help us to avoid mistakes.

I am a teachable person. I try to look at all perspectives and my ideas are always growing. I think that we can learn something from people of all ages. My children teach me new things all the time and I have learned so much from my great grandparents, grandparents and parents. I learn from people my own age and of various other ages. Sometimes I learn from people that I will never do what they are trying to teach me. I can't imagine closing myself off from learning. I know that I have so much more to gain in terms of knowledge and that the only way I am going to get it, is to listen, process and practice.

It is good for us to be open to learning new things. As well as to be reminded of these we already know. When we are humble and open minded it can do a lot for our life. We as well can meet all types of new and interesting people. Completely agree with your last sentence as well. We have to practice the things we learn and see as valuable in order to continue to make progress and see results.

I most definiteyl am!!! I love learning and I've often found that learning from others' mistakes has kept me on a good path. I'm very aware that I make mistakes as well so I don't mind constructive criticism and always strive to be better for myself.
