Curiosity and the human mission to Mars by 2020?

The scientists are trying hard to uncover facts about Mars with their latest robot Curiosity, which is roaming around Gale crater right now.
When will be able to send humans to Mars to settle? SpaceX, private space company believes they can send people to Mars by 2020. I hope so they do earlier, humanity really needs to spread into space. There are too many things that can happen to Earth which can wipe our race from this universe.
What are your thoughts regarding this? Please contribute your ideas :)

Thanks a ton for sharing this discussion. Well yes even i feel that instead of sending a robot, an astronaut should be sent to Mars so that a detailed info regarding Mars can be revealed. It is not that a robot cannot get clear facts but i find this work done by astronauts to be much better than it. It will also help us to unearth several mysteries and facts.
