I need a tree

I am looking to plant a tree in my front yard this spring. I don't want anything huge. Something that gets 10-12 feet high maximum and doesn't spread too far. I just want something that will give me a little privacy in my living room in the summer from the street and sidewalk. Are there any trees that look nice and stay that small?

You might consider a Japanese Acer (member of the maple family) that is slow growing and has beautiful maroon coloured variegated leaves. Properly planted, in the right conditions, these relatively slow growing trees would provide an attractive feature. They are deciduous so in winter it would look bare. For all year round leaves, how about a holly tree. Again they are slow growing but shape (and size) can be maintained. Also they'd make a good feature at Christmas time. With hollies, you have to watch as with some strains it is recommended you plant a male and female tree a distance apart to ensure that the female (I think) can be pollinated readily and bear berries.

Thanks. The Japanese Acer sounds like the better choice. I would prefer a deciduous so the sun can warm the front of the house in winter. Also not too concerned about the privacy factor in winter either as there are not many people out in the cold weather.
