When you get to know you do the same job as other staff but your salary is just half of others, what will you do?

It is a good discussion. When I graduated from college and started to work, my salary was much lower than that of my colleagues who started to work earlier than me. I did not have much thought about it because I knew that I was new at my work and I knew that as time goes by, my salary will some day as much as theirs or even higher if my work performance is better. Indeed, I am not earning much more than my old colleagues.

Hi, thanks, it is easy to understand for a freshman. But what do think if you work much longer time in a company than others, but freshmen earn much more than you. Just because company can't hire staff if offer lower salary.

Actually, some companies would rather hire new staff with higher salary than increase salary to original staff. It is ridiculous.

best moment to flip tables XD i really hate that. it happens to me once, knowing i do more and better, but my salary still is not increasing. i should have been promoted to art director position, but no one is directing my work but me only. XD after that, i quit, and made my own art studio at my house.

Hi summerrainylily, Yes, I do remember you...how are you? I would say, don't waste time, a job is all about money as first priority, if you are not getting paid well, go for another job and enjoy the life.

for me i have two things to do when my salary is not unfair, first i will ask the admin or the agency to increase my salary according to my performance and if they still don't i think i should leave and find another company where i will work with a good high salary.

I think if I were having this problem I would try to find another job. It's not always easy to do that though. It would also be frustrating to know that my salary isn't where it should be. It would also be a good idea for me to start saving while I look for another job, this would make me feel better.

Thank you for your answer Dominique25. Some companies like the one i work have a rule: staff are forbit to talk about salary with others, or will be fired. Boss thinks in this way, he can make unfire salary and save money. But there is no serect in this world. Stupid method.

Yeah it would be very scary to talk about salary if that was the rule for the job. I definitely wouldn't want to talk about it if I knew it was forbidden. We need to work and take care of our family. Yeah it is not a smart method. I'm glad though that in the area I live in, it's not likely that a rule like that is enforced.

Well, there are few things to be checked before arriving at any decision. One,are there any extra qualifications for those who are getting higher salary than me.Are they having more domain experience or knowledge than me.And finally are there any factors which make it relevant to make them pay higher than me.If all these questions are answered, then i would opt for 2 strategies. One , speak to concerned and see if i can get a relevant raise in my current position or organisation. This could be even a good promotion. If things are not favorable,i would look out and find a job elsewhere.I could bargain for a raise or other things in a new organisation easily perhaps than in my organisation.Plus i could get more opportunities in new organisation as well.Even if i am getting lesser raise in my new organisation or not getting what i feel satisfactory, i could look at opportunities elsewhere and it would make sense. Its important one is happy to self than to others. So i would think in all these angles before coming to a decision with the things.Hope you got things i mentioned here. Thanks!

What you need to do is ask your boss why. Then if you are not satisfied with the boss' answer, then it's time for you to move on finding a better job that's fair in giving salary.

If you are young, it's quite normal to be in that position since when were all starting we would all be underpaid and overworked. This isn't so bad though cause when were older and get promoted in our positions, we will be overpaid for less work we do. If you are an employee, and you are starting, it's better to stick with the company to enhance your experience. but if you are already experienced and want to earn money faster it's better to put up your own firm because nobody becomes rich just by being an employee. You have to put yourself at risk and do something on your own. If you're not happy with your current life, it's best to let go of the things that cause you souch stress and open up yourself to things that will improve you and make you a better person. Sure it will be difficult, but nothing is easy. It will be risky but risk is a given in life. Besides if it doesn't work, it is better to be wrong than to not have tried at all.
