Hey guys, since i am working as an editor and correspondent for a magazine, i have to make calls to many eminent personalities before hand so that i can fix their appointments for their interviews. i find it annoying when people do not answer your calls and in spite of calling them numerous times they do not have the courtesy to call back also fearing it to be an unknown number. I think whether they would have done the same thing had they got a call from the National Award Committee members or from the Oscars? I know it is not advisable to pick up calls from unknown numbers but being a public figure it is the responsibility of these people to respond to the calls that they receive. i find it strange but i have to carry on with my profession. What are your thoughts on this? Why do you think these people behave in this way? Do you answer all calls that comes your way? Do share your thoughts!

As far as l am concerned, i will also not answer a call which from a strange number, maybe you can try to send them a text message beforehand and then call them.

I might agree with you, since they are public figure they might be thinking that it's a bogus caller or stalker. Maybe it would be better to text them first and introduce yourself so when you call them they might answer your call but then I was thinking if you call them more than 5 times they should have thought it's urgent not unless their busy at the moment to answer the phone as if they are in the middle of something.

@echo060201- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Well i can understand your point but i think there are many people who even do not get time to look at their cellphones so forget the messaging part. If they would be getting an emergency call then they would not be receiving that as well. so all in all it would be their loss only. I am disappointed when they do not answer my calls or text messages. What say?

@inopiratum_a_medio12- Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes u are right but i have applied this technique as well but my question still persists that what is the purpose of carrying a cell phone if they are not meant to answer calls from the people. i know people would definitely like to avoid calls from stalkers and crazy fans but that does not remain an appropriate excuse for me. What say?

It is really annoying. Probably, they are busy and pre occupied with some things. And when they are free already they would remember they have appoinments with other people. And maybe some don't want to be interviewed or not yet prepared. Just extend your patience for you need it in your job. Take it easy.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right, i am trying to be patient as i am a short tempered person by nature and it becomes important for me to conquer my anger and temper. i know they might be busy with something but i think they should at least leave a message or should call back to inquire the number that they got a call from. What say?

I understand what you're talking about. People just should accept that people are going to call them, and not all of them are spammers or idiotic fans. Even with me, I'm a nobody, like I'm not prominent, yet I know I should accept all calls, because lots of places I want to work at, and where I sent my CV via the Internet may access me through the phone next, without any e-mail notice about whether they are gonna call me and on what number. There are lots of backdraws of being a working person, but they should do this kind of work in their work properly, too. Especially when the interview is already talked about, and you just need to fix an appointment.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes u have rightly pointed out this thing and even i feel the same that when you are a public figure then u will always expect most of your calls from the media circle and if they stop ignoring such calls then it would be their loss and a loss for us also. So i would definitely like them to at least receive the call and inquire and if they think they have got a call from a fan then they can disconnect the call. What say?

Sometimes, people on public figure may ignore calls most especially if the number appears on their phone screen was not listed on their phone book or shall I say unfamiliar numbers. They tend to let the phone ringing until it will stop maybe because it is their practice not to entertain calls from strangers and if not that too important for them or in either way, they are limiting their selves to accommodate calls which they believe it will getting some information pertaining to whatsoever on their behalf. I think, you should consult first the secretary of that personality instead of directing a call for him/her for you to be entertain. They can actually reason out that they're busy or have a meeting a reason that they cannot pick up their phones, some cases like that. Be patient and calm down because it is actually part of your job. Good luck to your media career.

Thanks a ton for your valuable response. Yes u are absolutely right, i agree to the point that these people might be having different ideologies regarding receiving calls from unknown numbers but here in my state most of these people do not have any personal secretary so these people have to be contacted directly. i know my profession will involve all these things but it gets into my nerves if all of them start doing the same thing. What say?
