Has anyone noticed how many reality TV shows thee days feature rednecks? There's Swamp People, Duck Dynasty, Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and now there's Buck Wild on MTV. What's really disturbing is that the people in them are speaking English and they still have to put up subtitles because you can't understand them.

it seems like once one cable network comes up with the idea for a reality show, the others have to make their own version. So now we have shows about pawn shops, auction hunters, ghost hunters, alien hunters, etc. And how many daytime syndicated courtroom shows are we up to? And today, it was suggested that there be a reality show following Vice President Biden. Next will Fox follow Speaker Boehner and MSNBC follow Nancy Pelosi? Maybe the Food Network can do a show following the White House chef.

I used to watch/like Ghost Hunters but my problem with it is that it's not science fiction which is what the sy fy channel is supposed to show.

I actually like Ghost Hunters. I guess it's a reality show, but I never really thought of it that way. But you're right...how many spin offs are there now of pawn shops and auctions?

Oh, how much I loathe TV shows and realities about lowlives... what the worst thing is that even if they are made with a prupose to make fun of these people (and most of them deserve it, like Honey Boo Boo and her delusional crazy mother), but the media is brainwashing some people and they start to think that it's the right thing to do, because they long for fame... yuck.

Yup...these low lifes love the fame and fortune. Pretty sad that these people make more money for being awful, disgusting people and decent people can even get a decent paying job.

Yeah, that is funny... the subtitles. As usual, media is kind of exploiting people. And I guess those who are watching do so because they can either relate or find it very humorous.

I guess some people find it humorous. I don't they're being exploited though. They are all willing participants.

I wouldn't give a minute of my time to this garbage. I don't understand what is going on with the TV shows today. There are very few that are good quality written shows. As for Reality shows most are not worth my time. I only like the competition shows. As for all the above shows you mentioned and all of the housewives of everywhere, tots and Tiara show, etc.... are all stupid mindless shows. The only reason they are still on is because people are watching them and I sincerely think these people who are watching them don't have a life. The producers are making these shows because they cost very little. So whatever entertaines the stupid people of america they will keep it on.

I agree that these shows are awful. I don't watch reality TV. The only one of the shows I mentioned that I actually saw was Duck Dynasty. The others I just know from them being talked about. It's funny how everyone says they don't watch them, but they bring in tons of ratings. Which, as you stated, is why they are still on.

Yes I have noticed. There aren't even that many black shows anymore but there are quite alot of the "real" reality shows. I just hate the fact that so many of one type of show is available, sometimes. But thankfully there are a few other choices we could watch instead. I don't watch any of those "redneck" shows at all, they sometimes drive me insane and lord knows I have enough of that in real life.

I don't watch the reality shows either. I don't even know who half these people are who have reality shows. All I know is that there is a reality show out there dealing with any subject you can come up with.

Yeah. I guess it's the latest trend. I watched a couple episodes of Honey Boo Boo and it didn't appeal to me at all. Watched one episode of Buck Wild and that was even worse. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

There are so many because people are watching them. I do not personally watch any of them but I think it is funny that they need subtitles.
