I knew most Windows Vista, and Windows 7 have Telnet disabled, and honestly, I just discovered the function of Telnet on my older computer, and I really want to learn something from it. I know that I can use it to connect remote computer with their correct hostname, or IP address. There are also commands associate with it. I just wonder when you connect to a remote computer, or a host, what port do you usually use? and would you simply type in "Open", then the website address or IP address of a remote computer? Can anyone give me some guidance on this one?

you can use putty to telnet/ssh to remote computer.
it works very well and no installation/setup is required.
