How many hours do you work?

Some people work till late at night. Very soon it becomes an addiction and as a result, their sleeping hours reduce. They feel exhausted all day and it effects their work. It can't be a reason of happiness.

I babysit between 16 and 24 hours a week. I do some cleaning on the weekends for my Uncle and that's another 4 hours. I average 40-50 hours between those two jobs as well as my online work. I get at least 6 hours of sleep a night. I get to bed between 9pm and 10pm. Depending on how well I am sleeping, I get what I need. I am familiar with the term "workaholic" and I am definitely not a workaholic. I take plenty of breaks during the day. My eyes need a rest, and my body needs the exercise. I know some people have to work hard because their bosses expect it of them. It's hard in this day and age just to walk away from a job that is feeding your family and if you are not in a position to say "hey boss, enough is enough and I want to spend more time with my family" they might hear..."well, so and so wants your job" I think this is why so many people work so hard and so late. They're heart is with their families and trying to give them what they think they want a deserve (home, food, clothing) and so they buckle to the demands of work.

Right and that's why it is so important to find a balance between work and family and then try to get in a little "me" time for sleep or what have you.

Very true. There really are bosses who expect too much from their employees and there are also certain positions in an office that requires extended working hours especially when there are deadlines. Me, I work 10 hrs daily at the office plus another hour or so on my online job before I hit the sack and like you said, why I work hard is because at the back of my mind, I am doing this for my family. It's a matter of time management so you'll get to have the rest you needed in order not to compromise your health over your work.

A good topic.I sleep for seven or eight hours at night.I never sleep or even lie on my bed in daytime.Barring the time I spend in taking my bath and meals,I keep working all the time. You may say,I go on working from morning till late night. And my work has become my passion. It is impossible for me to keep sitting and talking nonsense with others. My work is my passion and it gives me abundant happiness.

Me too. I sleep eight or nine hours at night. Because if I don't sleep enough, it will affect my work tomorrow, I will sleepy in office. I don't want to sleep too many hours, because its no good for our health too. A human can sleep eight hour per day. Don't sleep too many hours, you will bacome lazy and fat, have diseases. But I don't work too many hours too. I work just for six hours.

I just started a new job a couple of weeks ago, and although I got a schedule from my boss last week (it was set for me to work 5 hours a day 6 days a week), my hours can still vary per day (for example I worked over 7 and a half hours yesterday). I just can't get over 30 a week (union rules). However, there is one exception as I have training coming up. With training and work, I should get a total of 40 hours. Not sure how many hours that will work out per day, but that's okay. I'll find out soon enough! LOL Happy mylotting!

Funny thing about me being workaholic is I do not feel less effective even if I just had a few hours of sleep. When I have a job/task to do, I am always eager to do it. I want to impart whatever knowledge I have or extend my help as much as I can. I think being productive in that way makes me happy.

Talking about working, the best working hours is this. You work 5 days a week on weekdays. For weekends, you take rest or do whatever you enjoy the most. In that way, at least you will not be so exhausted because at least there are resting days. No point if you work from Monday to Sunday to earn a lot of money. No matter how much money you earned, you won't feel enough. Not only that, you will feel very exhausted and eventually you will fall sick. When that happens, there will be no money comes in. Instead there will be a lot money going out to pay the hospital bills. So, it's not worth to put in so much time and effort to earn a lot of money.

I work online a lot, if it's a day I have to work I am online from 9 or 10 am until I have to get ready for work. If I don't have to go to work, I still get up at 9 or 10 am and take a break for a bit during the time I'd normally be working. It is a bit of an addiction but it's fun for me so I guess it's a two for one.

I only work 8 hours a day because i am doing an intership but even so i dont think i would work more hours. I am a person that stresses out very fast so if i worked too much i would work as hard and yes it would affect my work for sure.

good day to you nikkygupta, to be honest with you, having a lot of wealth and money is my reason to be happy. if i have a lot of money, my family will treat me right and will respect me accordingly. so i didn't bother if i got exhausted and tired, as long as i earned the amount i am targeting then it is the right thing for me.

I am one of those people. My current unemployment situation requires constant work at home on the internet so that I can make some decent income to help with the family budget. I work from early in the morning until late at night, which sums about 16 - 18 hours a day. Almost no sleep at all. Sometimes the need for finances just overpowers the need of happiness. I can only hope things can change and I will get some sleep someday.

Not everyone who exceedingly work are really addicted to working. It's just that it is a need. Sure, it can't be very happy to be working and exhausting oneself but if there is no choice, then so be it.

For some people working till late at night results in a good quality sleep, which is good for their health. If it causes lack of sleep and feeling tired the next day, then it's not worth doing.

Unfortunately, many people are stressed out nowadays because of working in excess. The truth is , that some salaries are really not enough, so many people choose to take another job. Of course it's not a reason of happiness, but this is the world that we live in, and it's ruled by money.

I work 10 hours a day. Sometimes I felt stress of my work, but sometimes I enjoy my work. My tasks in work are accordance to my hobby. But if you ask about happiness, it can be different in each person and it certainly conditional. Some people might say that their work brings happiness in their life but some people say that their work is stressing them.

Yea that happens a lot. Sometimes I do the same but its very easy to become a workaholic because you have all these deadlines that you are trying to meet so you put in these extra hours which sometimes give you extra pay and you work yourself to a point that as you say your sleep and your whole life is affected. Some do it to escape the realities of there lives some just like to work but it really doesn't always lead to happiness!!
