How do you do it?

They say, "Enjoy your early years in school- from kindergarten to elementary and up to the dubbed most special of all: high school. Because once it's over and college begins it's a totally different arena. College..." And yes, few years now into college and almost finishing my degree (all praise be to GOD), I'd agree. The past years as a stud (our acronym for student) are nothing compared no being a college student. Sure, every moment is unique! But college is something that'll definitely stick with you in more ways than the others did. With all the deadlines, pressures of your course, appointments of college that now add to your must-know-how-to-jumble-and-prioritise-list besides those you already have personally, it really amazes me how WORKING students not only get the best of grades, but also they seem to get their jobs done well! How do you folks do it? Do you still have time for "me-time" and "family and friends"? Do you still have time for the home to fix and clean? And to the rest of my fellow college studs! How's it going?

Hi tassantos. Well I am still a stud and will continue to be so till one and half yearmore. There are lots of deadlines and peer pressure. Though I am not able to have family time but I definitely manage to squeeze in that me time that I share with my friends. It is all about identifying things that aren't necessary and improve your efficiency. If you are able to do that then you will realize that 24 hours is huge amount of time for a day. Have a nice day ... SuperShames

Hi tassantos. I am glad that you liked my post. And there is one more thing I wanted to say. It is true that the life before marriage and work is the easiest one. If we are not able to manage time at this age then how are going to manage in future without giving up on things we actually love to do. So it is very important to know where you stand in your life and what are you going to do about it... Have a nice day !!

you remind me of my college years. i never thought i would be able to say goodbye to my university as well as to my hectic schedules that makes my mind turn qupside down everyday. whoa! but i miss my student life. i miss the feeling of jumping out from bed and running to shower just 30mins before my class. i miss taking my breakfast and coffee at school caffeteria with my buddies and most of all, i miss my proffesors very much! the exams, quizez, laboratory works, everything!

Yeah, I think like all the times that pass we'll all be missing many certain points in our lives and be so grateful for the lessons and even for just the experience itself. :D

Everyone always told me that your high school years were the golden years but honestly I didn't really enjoy high school all that much. About that time I started to really see how teachers liked to take advantage of their power and always try to tell you what to do. I also found a lot of the stuff that we were learning to be pointless and I had no motivation to really try hard in any of my classes. I eventually dropped out one day because I was sick of teachers acting like they had control over me. After I dropped out I did some tests to be able to take my G.E.D. and completed that within a month and was done with my high school education almost a full year before I was supposed to graduate. I waited a year because I thought that I could earn an alright living just with regular jobs but I quickly found out that wasn't going to happen. About this time I also really formulated an idea of what I actually wanted to do with myself. Finding the motivation and your life goals that you are set on are key in my opinion to be able to find the strength to push you through anything such as college. I just recently finished up my associate's degree and I am now looking for colleges to transfer to. I want to learn how to make botanical and natural medicine that is based off of plants. I also want to learn different methods of health practicioners such as acupuncture and ayurveda. I have been working two jobs for a while now and am just trying to save up enough money to be able to move where the college is located. It's been tough balancing going to college full time and working two full time jobs. At one time I was going to college full time and working three jobs and I barely even slept at all during that time. I think it is important to make enough time to at least take care of yourself. Because throughout my college career I often wasn't able to take care of myself. I often had to put thing off like cleaning up after myself, cooking what I want for myself, and I have had virtually no free time in the past two years. Regardless though I can't wait to transfer to a college that is specialized in the fields that I want to go into. All of the stress will be worth it once I am able to reach my goals and attain my dream job. I just can't wait to start making a difference in the world and using my abilities to their full potential.

Wow! I really feel for you and admire your determination! You're right. One must have that strongly rooted goal to move forward for. The one "purpose to keep going on". You might be burnt out and need to rest for some time, but it'll always bring you back on, and right on track. I pray that you reach whatever true good it is you aim for! Kudos!

I am a college student myself (I am in my late 30s and am working towards my second Master's degree that I will have in March) and it is very hard to balance everything. In between studying Randy has a lot of doctor's appointments that I go with him, keeping up with the cooking, cleaning and the laundry and believe me it is hard as well. I make a list of everything that needs to be done and prioritize. I make sure that I do at least 2 hours of homework a night and do my housework a little bit at a time and make time to come online so I can make some extra money. The job market is very tough so I have not been able to find work. I am also in the process of starting an online business and hope to get it going up in March or April. I also do a lot of crafting and make time for them as well.

Hi there! I've been in your shoes once and I've wondered the same thing back when I was still in college. College is serious stuff but it can also be a lot of fun. I guess the real question is not "How do you do it?", but more of like "Are you willing to do it?". Some majors are tough and some are easy, some are interesting while some are can be very boring. But, if one is willing to go through the lengths of sleepless nights, pressure, deadlines, boredom, too much requirements, anxiety etc., then rest assured, you'll soon see the finish line and cross that line someday. I know it was one of the happiest moments of my life especially having seen how my parents' sacrifices and my sacrifices had finally paid off.

I had to delay some of my years, because it was just that exhausting and pressuring with the deadlines and responsibilities... especially as I grew up in a really achievement-oriented family, and they were expecting me to be a straight A student, so even my high school years weren't that fun and carefree, so I got a bit burnt out, and I really needed a rest. I don't know how others can do it so quickly - maybe they have more restored energy and faith than me.

I know how you feel. But you must have those memorable moments. I look at those times and really try to see what lessons for life that were in them, and that somehow serves as added energy.

i think i just follow the flow and get adjustment period where i am longing to stay that way or miss it. but the turn of the events is not like that SO MY COPING MECHANISM IS JUST ENJOY THE MOMENTS AND PARTICIPATE on the activity the school gives to me. i also need to get more serious and put a lot of effort in being a college student and unlike highschool which have different atmosphere is more free spirited where i do enjoy being young, and being silly at the same times. this things surely miss and college life is the path to take more mature roles to become a responsible adult to self and able to make my own decision.
