Who to blame

Philippines

Lately, many incidents regarding gun firing has shock the world. In Newton America, a man opened fired in an elementary school that took the lives of 26 individual. In the Philippines, a man open fired in his town and killed 7 person. Sometime i wonder who should be blame for this incidents. Can we blame the parents of the perpetrator for not raising their child properly. Can we blame the perpetrator himself for having an unstable state of mind. Or could we blame the government for not imposing strict gun policy. Any thoughts on this?

I think it's more complicated than just pointing a finger at only one factor. There is a mix of factors that can provoke such act and many of them lie together within the family environment, school surroundings, the abundance of violence in the news and television, biological and mental predisposition of the perpetrator... Sometimes the problem is buried so deep that even an expert can't find it on time in order to prevent something bad from happening, and this is one of the main reasons why so many tragedies like this happen. I still haven't found a solution to this problem for myself and I hope smarter people will do for prevention.

Thank you for your response. I will agree with you that almost all the environment that we are living can be a factor of how one people thinks. They can be a factor for so that one would end up like the guys in the news. In the other hand they can also become a factor so that one can be a better person.

As long as there is no one to take responsibility to take some actions to prevent, or to improve all the surrounding factors, tragedies will continue to happen. Unfortunately.

Thanks for this discussion, such incidents are becoming so common these days around the globe, most parents have no time for the kids, leaving them in school is not enough; parents need to guide them in right path.

A lot of factors can be brought upon this kind of behavior. And mostly can be because of the environment that one belongs to.

hi, i think the government have part on it and people can blame them, because they can not control their people to do some killing and murder, and of course the person who did that too because he should not killed those innocence people.i think the government should be more strict on this weapons.

I also thought about these things and I am also thinking about whose fault I can blame this. Could this be the person alone, other people or the family or the society. One of the word that comes to my mind is stress. The society can be full of stress and people and when a person is jammed with stress his mental health will surely suffer. All these people who commit terrible crimes are obviously out of their minds. We can blame the devil or whoever but when a person is deluded, paranoid, anxious and hopeless many bad things will follow.

We as members of society have our share to be blamed. We had better care more about our kids' education, social activiies and well being in general so they don't turn bad. If every family does the same, then bad things like that can be greatly reduced globally.

good question.... I think everyone is to blame here. From police to judges to gang members. Everyone has their hands dirty in this. Saying that, everyone else has to help stop this kind of thing. Lets hope for peace... God bless...

This issue should be addressed not only by the government, but also by the community… People should put a more serious note on law implementations, and this is sad because half of the country doesn’t know the law itself because they are blinded by wealth and power resulting that they feel superior about themselves. One should pave ways on equality in terms of law abiding regardless if you have positions in the government or you are an individual.

It is so depressing that it is happening. Many lives are wasted because of nonsense... Who are we going to blame? I think there are too many reasons for that. We could blame the government because of its unsuitable law enforcement. We could blame the media for it influences many minds. And we could blame the environment for it is also a big factor to the upbringing of anyone's life. Well, we couldn't say there are certain reasons but one thing is sure... That life is cruel and ironic.

I think we all have to take responsibility. I really think that even Hollywood and movie makers have to be responsible as well. Movies are becoming more and more violent. If you don't believe me, just watch an old movie from the 1950s - they are not nearly as violent as today's movies. It is NOT necessary to see such violence on the big screen. And yes, that does influence people. Because why do they show pre-views and commercials, they know that will influence people. So, anything shown on the big screen or on TV does affect and influence people. One thing we have to do is to stop blaming other people. We are each responsible to bringing about a safer and more peaceful world. I don't watch violent movies and don't pay for them, so as an individual, I am doing what I can to not be influenced by those violent movies, nor do I support violent movies. We do have to look into what will prevent the violence. I think by making sure children are not exposed to violence on TV or in the movies, so that those who are unstable and unable to discern the difference between the movies and real life, will not be so influenced to commit the violence they see on the movies.
