Repeating dreams

I am curious why does it happen and what does it mean. I have some dreams that repeats over and over during my nights for years. And I couldn't say I am obsessed with the subject or that I even think at this during the day. I was in love, some years ago, with a guy that lives in other country. I used to go in the summers there, to see him. It was a teen love (I say now, but than I was quite obsessed). I totally moved on and I barely think about him. But there are 4 years now and I still dream, regularly (once at 2 weeks - 1 month) the same dream that involves him. The background and events can vary, but the story is always the same. I arrive in his city and I want to go and see him. But all sort of things happen, and I postpone the date to the next day. Than I realise that is the last day there, I have to come back in my country, and I didn't saw him. It's the last opportnity. So I run to his place, but all sort of obstacles come (people, dogs, trains, weather, I get lost etc). I struggle to arrive, I fight with all that comes into my way, the time is very limitated. When I am near, when I know that at the next step I will see him, wake up. This is the dream that lasts for longer. But recently (some months) I have another dream that continues to repeat. And I also have others in the past. What does it mean? Do you have this kind dreams, that repeat without you to know why? Is something in me that produces them?

Recurring dreams can be a problem, sometimes they are so short and annoying but I can not wake up from it! With yours though I have had something similar for the person I care about. I think it is the prcoess of our brain processing fear and desire. You want to see him but it is a little scary.

Hi there. This is the first post I am replying here. According to me, repeating dreams doesn't mean anything. Normally we get dreams about what we see or think about the entire day. But sometimes we get dream about something we didn't even thought once in the day. It might happen due to the time we spent with a person(if its a person). Even I get dreams about the school I worked as a teacher. I never visited there, or thought about it, then also, I get dreams of still working there. This may be because the quality time I spent there...

I wouldn't be surprised if I would have that dream once, without thinking at that person in years. But I regularly have it for years. I feel it's something that means. Why my subciousness doesn't create new situation? Maybe it is just lazy, like I am :p Anyway... Welcome on mylot! :) Hope to enjoy the experience and often see answers of you here. Have a nice day!

based on researches, people dream because of the so called subconsciousness. we dream about things that we think about every time. there is also a so called lucid dreaming where in you can control your dreams or you can dream what you want to dream about even how many times you would like to dream about it. some people believe that dreams have meanings and symbols that you have to figure out but science says dreams do not have hidden meanings or messages. well, it's up to us if we want to believe science or not.

I also believe that dreams are mixed images from the subconsciousness and doesn't have hidden messages, doesn't predict future and are not related to telepathy. But I just don't understand why my subciousness obstinates to have image with a story that I totally move on. And why it obstinates to show me so often same images.

I've had a couple of dreams more than once..when I do, somewhere down the line, whatever I dreamed actually happens..now that is creepy and weird..but I think that when you dream something over and over, it is something your mind is trying to tell you. Pay attention to what is happening in those dreams and the people who might be involved..to me, dreams are something like hidden messages. You just have to pay attention.

Probably is something that I should see in this all situation. Not related to a paranormal activity of my mind, but it's something down there, in my subcounsciousness or even deeper that wants to come up. Or maybe dreaming the same thing, I started to think about why I dream it again, and the image of me dreaming the same become part of my mind... Hmm.. just thinking.
