Employment is guaranteed poverty so what we must do

I have witnessed the lives of my friends, some of them went to good schools, employed on a good paying job but I don't knew the reason for how many years they are working they can't buy a house and lot to be called their own. Those who finished schooling on other school and landed a low paying job with some of them just maintained small business. became more financially stable. I asked myself was it true employment is a guaranteed poverty?

No, i don't think it is because of employment that people go to poverty. It is the money management skills of a person that is the factor here. Having a job is a good way to earn money and income. But usually people are so reliant that they have jobs that they don't pay close attention to their money. They spend it careless knowing that they will still get money the next month or so. People without jobs put value into what little money they have left. They opt to become wiser when it comes to using money, so as much as possible, they try to make it grow through investments and business. What must we do? We should be smart. We should use our head and learn how to use money in the most efficient way so that we have some steady money flow even if we don't have jobs. Jobs are supposed to make it easier for people to raise that money, but often times they take it for granted

A good example is my dad. He worked for a company for 20 years and now he barely has any money left. He didn't invest his money that much. Sure he has some social security but that's not enough. He had to retire early because of health problems. This is what I'm trying to avoid. So when I am working, it doesn't mean I am stable. I have to be wise with my money. I ought to know how to continually get money in one way or another other than paychecks from my job.

Yeah, it is true, being over confident of having something to replace the money spend is not good one must have to think for the future not all times he is healthy to earn money for a living on employment. What? if comes the time he can no longer work what will happen to him ? But maybe to be employed is not for poverty but for security. What matters is how ? a person made good of his earnings.

is this like saying you prefer to go back to barter instead of paying money? I mean imagine the world of no employees just business all in the community... then there could be no other forms of income to run around. maybe it is still good to have like, employment and business at the same time. employment bring regular income and regular income is used to daily expenditure. No, it is not true the employment is poverty. I still want to be employed. hitting the right business is difficult.

Being employed with a low salary wage is something. I agree with you, having employed in a low scale of wage is not that reason for being in poverty. We just need to explore the possible opportunities out there.

thanks.. Shav.. that's right thanks for adding the Underemployment statement. One may underemployed or with low pay but still have something to get for daily existence. just a little belt tightening has to be done.

I have no idea. I do think that the pay for many jobs are getting lower and people have to work harder to maintain their standard of living. Also the expenses may be greater then imagined. I think when the economy is bad, people tend to take whatever jobs they can and they also cannot afford to go to night school to continue their education to get a better job. Also many employers choose employees by what looks good, rather then experience or they want someone just out of high school or collage to have the experience of someone more advanced. So they land in a rut.

Maybe it is true, because of necessity a person grab whatever it takes to make a living. I think it is where education come in. To get high paying job you must have the qualities. But one to be considered also is patient and attitude to hit for the better opportunities in life.

I wonder if most of us are doomed to poverty no matter how we keep trying. It's just so expensive to live these days. We even have to pay for the air that we breathe (clean air tax). I'm thinking of going back to school. But at this point, it's not about what I would like to do, it's about what field I can make money in.

You can do it, why not concentrate on your field of interest, with that you are at edge with your counterparts.

Hi, Nobody really got rich as a wage worker, it is an age-old truism. It is only a means to temporary relief from being penniless when nothing can be had. As soon as the needs are met, it is necessary to move on to some business ventures, raising the needed capital by all legal means, be it saving a part of the wage, going on a loan or starting small.

It is true, the salary is fixed monthly. But within a period of one month we don't know what will happen. Meaning we have a fixed amount of monthly salary but our expenses monthly is flexible. If something happened and we don't have enough amount to cover the excess expenses we will borrow money with interest. Now the interest is another addition to our previous expenses and so on and so forth. One must find ways for extra income and same times be watchful of his health.

House and lot are quite costly in our country. If you are an ordinary employee and have a family, one can't really buy a good house. The salary is low too and have to work for it for many years to increase one's salary. I hope there will be an increase in salary good enough to buy a house and lot and sustain a family.

The amount that you earn when you are employed is more likely on able to sustain your important, daily needs. Unlike if you have your own business, you get to earn more from it coz you take all the credit for the products and services that you provide.

Yeah, good for those who have capitals to start their own business. Employment is really something the government must have to monitor. Some business owners are abusive to their personnel they always want to earn more and leave a little to their personnel. Salary and wages must be raised to an amount more than enough for a person and his family to survive.

Having a job is no guarantee of anything. It's a contract between you and them and they can terminate at any time. We are rented on a daily basis. sounds negative but it's true. All we get in return is a check each week. And we need to learn that all we have is what's in hand at the moment. Working smarter not harder. Education does offer the chance for a higher salary. However, with that comes larger responsibility.People tend to spend according to and above the level of pay they receive. One has to decide what is truly important in life. That would be food, shelter, clothing and transportation. Once those things are in order then other things can be gained as needed. Going into debt is the ruination of most people. Pay cash as much as possible.

It takes a lot of courage to have a stable job and earn tremendous amount of money. The lack of employment might be one reason for being in poverty, it is seen in some developing countries. It will overturn with perfect timing. The government systems can be elusive in terms of having sustainable livelihood for the marginalized people.

The high cost of living and minimal increase in wages are things going in separate ways fighting against each other. In my observation, when a person is employed he is concentrating on doing good of his job. He has no more time of doing other things. His salary increased slowly and can't matched the increased of the cost of living.

I think it depends on some people. Maybe those people with good income are contented with the life they had so they just keep on living the way they're used to since they can afford renting. Those low income people are eager to to earn more so they tried business and they end up earning more.

There's a logic on what you said, The messing factor is maybe the desire of a person to excel on his way of living and be not contented of what he already have.
