Some places we can see worst people enters into politics and they are spoiling the human life. How do we restrict them? Bad politicians always plays with religions, caste and other dividing factors. What are the basic qualities needed for a good politician?

In our country, the only qualifications we have to be able to run in a public office are the nationality, age requirement, length of stay in a particular, and not convicted by a crime. Have a nice day!

Education is not exactly a determining factor for being bad person, more or less a politician. There are many people who re very and highly-educated and they still commit crime. There is even a term for it - white collar crime - it's sophisticated and well-throughout - certainly a sign that whoever did it done a lot of skintight and perhaps a degree holder. As much as I want my lawmakers or politicians to have a background in law as they are tweaking the law of my country for at their actions and disposal, a high education can also be a deterring factor. Having a prestigious background might scream egalitarianism , and being out of out withe common people - the same common people who usually make the voting population. Elections are popularity contest and the more common ground the candidate shares with the common people, the higher chnace that they will win. That's the whole nutshell.

In my views, first is the person becoming a politician should be a youth. Than he must be well educated, should be disciplined as well. Last but not the least, should not be "corrupted".

One of the reason makes the government system fail is due to old traditional system. We need to find or choose a person to the right spot in the politics. Since some country is trying to fight the cruel things done by the people with power.

A good politician should be well-educated, well-experienced and has the masses' affection. One should know what he is truly saying rather than rely on some advisers who might be manipulating them in a way that sometimes would lead them to trouble without them knowing it.

Hi prabu There is certain education qualification to enter in to any job in India but there are no certain qualifications required to enter the politics except some age limit to enter . I strongly feel that to bring a change in the society they have to keep some educational qualification also to enter politics . The basic qualities for a good politician 1. Well educated 2. Love for his own country 3. Love for his fellow countrymen 4. Loves to serve his fellow countrymen within the bounds of the law 5. Has no tendencies to corrupt even a single cent 6. Excellent leadership skills .

A good politicians is one who got the qualities of a leader. For a leader is one who seek welfare for his constituents. How he knew what is applicable to his people and what is not? He must have the qualifications of proper education. For believe me or not majority of the people who finished schooling are those people who are more responsible and with a better understanding of his surroundings.

While education is no guarantee that a politician would do a good job, it certainly would ensure that others around him or her would know what sort of game he is trying to play, and find ways and means to stop such things, provided of course, they themselves are honest. I think our traditional democracy with a few elected doing the job is outdated. With mobiles and Internet, we are well equipped to take our decisions. Why do we need politicians out there to take a call, and waste taxpayer's monies? All they do is bicker..and waste the session time.

It should be mandatory. But I guess it won't happen! And that's kind of frustrating... When most politicians in my country doesn't even know how to understand and speak English well!

The people in the field of politics should be professional with golden heart. Some who are in this world took advantage the resources to corrupt the mind of innocent people. Other aspires for power, but they are not professionals. I've seen some people in the limelight and I don't think they should be in the list of politicians.

I've seen well educated and not so educated politicians and they wear all the same color. The well educated ones are really playing smart, stealing from country without going to jails. The not so educated are using their money to hire someone to work for them, so basically, they are just fronts of the act. Government should have a law that doesn't allow politicians to run again once they have criminal record.

Yes. Educational qualification is indeed mandatory for politicians. But in India, as you must be knowing, corruption is at it's peak. Anyone willing to be a politician can order an educational degree in exchange of some cash. There are many educational institutes [which have started based on bribery itself] which can offer you a degree in exchange of cash. According to me, there should be a pan-country examination to search for effective politicians. Separate exams for different areas like planning, finance, railways, home ministry, industrialization, commerce, external affairs, etc. 1. First a common test to enter politics. This test would examine one's qualities like leadership, motivation, inspiring, determination, attitude, behavior, etc. 2. Second, there should be a department wise examination, like I stated earlier. To test a politician in a particular field. I guess any politician who clears these two exams should be a right candidate. But to remind you, this process should be corruption-free :-) Otherwise it's of no use. Any other practice that can help the Indian Political sphere?
