I met this girl in my Psychology course, and we're good friends. I was happy that we got into the same Sociology course, and we started to chat. She had this water bottle that was different from what she usually brought, which was a colored water bottle. I have no idea why I mentioned it, but she said, "Yeah, I think it's great you're able to notice my water bottle's different.." and the conversation kind of abruptly stopped because I'm sure that both of us were bored if we were talking about different water bottle shapes / sizes. I couldn't tell whether she was being honest or being sarcastic, because her voice is fairly lower-pitched, and perhaps it's just me, but lower-pitched in my view means that she's sarcastic. I sometimes hate being able to notice these things, but it will eventually help me somehow.. I'll be hoping at the very least.

Maybe you are sarcasm impaired like Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory, lol. Just kidding. Hopefully, she was not being sarcastic. Maybe she was just flattered that you noticed she had gotten a fancy new water bottle. And yes being aware of details around you and in your work could be helpful in many professions.
