How do you find Being Independent at the age of 20?

All of us somewhat thought of being independent of living on our own. At first its some kind of scary thing to do because you cant rely on anyone else but yourself. Do you think its normal to seek independence at the age of 20? I left home when I was 20 6mos after graduation. There has been family issues that made me leave and I really dont know back then where to stay or get money for me to survive. I've borrowed money from friends to find a place to stay and apply for a job. When I got hired I rented a room from where Im still staying until now. I dont even wanna think about what I've been through to survive being alone because I still cant believe I surpassed those obstacles. Im still thankful that my family still accepts me for what I am and what I wanna be. After I've realized being independent takes a lot of courage and hardwork. How bout you guys? How do you find being independent? Have you experienced problems that only you can fix?
