Chinese new year would be celebrated on February 10,and I am giving some "tikoy",a glutinous rice cake to my relatives and friends.I am very sure I can also receive numerous tikoy from my relatives and friends, because this is already a traditional routine in our society during this season,so that good luck would always guide in our daily life.I have Chinese traditions in my family, that is why we always do it during this time to celebrate and invite fortune in our life.

I do have a Chinese blood but not that much so, celebrating the Chinese New Year has never been part of the family tradition. But I have been receiving those from my husband's Chinese friend since last week. I am not a fan of the glutinous cake coz it is quite heavy in the stomach to eat.

Yes, Yes, Yes. I love this sweet glutinous rice especially fried with one side yam and one side sweet potato. Truly yummy! I used to buy it for my mother-in-law and sister. It seems this is supposed to be placed in the kitchen so when the 'god of kitchen' drop by to check the kitchen, the sweet sticky glutinous rice will make the 'god of kitchen' reporting only good and sweet things.

No, we don't celebrate Chinese New Year by exchanging 'tikoy' with friends and relatives, it is not exactly like you all do in China, there are some variation in the way we celebrate CNY compare to you, since we are not living in China, tikoy or not is not very important part of our tradition, it's perfectly alright for a bit of differences exist in the way people celebrate festival around the world, i am sure you understand that, not everyone want to keep up with an ancient and antiquated tradition forever as time evolved.

Hi! I don't know much about Chinese traditions but there were times that i received this kind of rice cakes. I did not understand, what was that for so i did not give away rice cakes too, maybe this time i will. Another thing i am curious about in Chinese traditions is the practice of feng shui. They say this is scientific so i am beginning to look for some good luck charms i can wear and place inside our home.
