Why do movie stars prefer to socialize on Twitter over Facebook?

Hi everyone! I noticed that Filipino artists maintains FB and Twitter to connect with their fans. However, most of the time, maybe limited to those whom I follow, the stars post more on Twitters rather than on Facebook. My assumption is that Twitter is a lot simpler compared to Facebook. Also, you don't get hacked much in Twitter. How about you guys? What's your opinion on this?

I think in Twitter, the artists are actually the ones who are tweeting, unlike in Facebook you don't even know if they are the ones personally posting there.

I am following at least 5 stars or musicians in my tweeter. I noticed the same thing that many of the stars indeed uses tweets. If is more simple and would not need much effort checking on a lot of things that FB has. Also, most phones have twitter because the download does not takes so much time or longer. Thanks for your comment.

I think it's because Twitter is simpler in every way for both poster and reader. I doubt that a celebrity actually tweets themselves but their secretaries or gophers probably do it and lets face it...they all live fantastically busy lives.

That's good observation MsTickle. I think that some still do look at their Twitter account just to boost their confidence and know how many fans follows them. Although, I agree. They may employ a secretary to do the postings of updates. But there is this one star in our country who does post his updates. You will know that it's their secretary who's doing the job because he places (admin) when it's done by the secretary. But if it is their personal posting, they don't place the admin tag. Thanks for sharing here.

I think it is also because you cannot get as much messages from adoring fans since you have to follow someone to get messages from them. Twitter apps are a lot simpler, especially if your just sending out a little update, then you do not need much else.

I agree with you. It will be too taxing for stars to keep on checking private messages specially they get more than a thousand followers in their twitter accounts and FB. Also, they can just post what they feel and think through twitter without the sluggish downloading of FB contents. Thanks for the input UtopianIdealist.

It's probably because it's more widely used, but what am I to say about it? People seemingly love Apple's still 'innovative' products when there are third party companies with more features for lower prices don't get noticed. Getting back on-topic, maybe it's just the name or a brand. People tend to get loyal when a product they have is high quality (or in their case, simplistic) and may very well be going out of their way to disseminate information about it. Which may be why celebrities use Twitter.

What I know is that Twitter is more popular in the Western countries. However, here on Asia, FB is more popular. As for the quality, FB has more features compared to Twitter. It is also more visual and more interactive. These are just my observations. Brand as you may say? Hmmm, maybe that one can be counted. Quality? The term is somehow relative. How can we say that Twitter is better in quality compared to FB? Just some thoughts.

I think its because in twitter all is fair, be it celebrities or common people. If you noticed in facebook, all you can do is to like famous personalities but not really to be friends with them. Its like theres still a thin line between known people vs the public.

You have a good point here gamarays12. And I think if celebrities would allow to be friends with everyone, then they will be flagged with a lot of messages. However, Twitter does the same too. You can be flooded with lots of messages from fans. I really think because Twitter is less complicated to use. You are not oblige to check on everybody's messages. The message section of Twitter is not also activated if a person you are following does not follows you. Just a thought.
