so sad...

My notebook which I got from my cousin years back has finally given up on me. I know it's not broken bu I'm not a techy person so I don't really know how to fix it. It's not able to booth up Windows because a file is missing or corrupted. This has happened after I forced it to shut down because of some system issues. Its keyboard has long stopped functioning and I'm using and external keyboard to work on it. The wifi was turned off so I have to access its BIOS to enable wifi manually as external keyboard does not allow you to automatically turn on/off wifi. After that, I started getting that black screen telling me that a file is missing or corrupted and that I should do repair. I have read several articles from the internet on what causes this issue and I perfectly understand the theory but I'm afraid I won't be able to do the actual application. Another thing, notebooks don't have a CD ROM so I have to convert a regular flash drive and make it as a bootable USB which can hold the operating system. This is not a problem because I have a friend who has this. However, since the keyboard is not working, I'm no longer able to access its BIOS back. It can't read the external keyboard since it can no longer read the computer drive/s. I feel like crying but of course I know this is something that can be fixed still. The timing just makes me sad because I have an online job and now I'm not able to perform it. Thanks to my other cousin for letting me use her laptop for the meantime while I get my notebook fixed. I hope it won't take long to fix it. My cousin needs to use her laptop too so I need to get this computer back to her ASAP.

did you try to replace the original keyboard with a new one? not external.

Nope. I don't how to do that. At first it seems like the function key is stuck. Eventually, every key doesn't work anymore. I tried reading forums on how to fix it but I'm not computer savvy and I'm scared doing the steps provided. Also, I have read reviews that it's actually a common problem with ASUS eePC version.

A problem in which windows doesn't start properly due to missing file of OS is a cause of shutting down computer forcibly. However, I had such a problem which got resolved to normal after I did a format of the C drive.

yes, I did shut it down forcibly because everything was stuck. It wasn't responding anymore. I tried waiting for it for more than 10 minutes to no avail so I decided to forcefully shut it down. When I started my notebook I was able to access the BIOS still which I needed to enable my wifi since my keyboard isn't working. After that I got the error message on a black screen and I can no longer access the BIOS back because I'm just using an external keyboard. I will bring it to a technician soonest and I'll probably have it reformatted to. It seriously needs one. haha!

Yeah, and its common problem with windows missing their important files. Use your windows installation cd and 'Repair' windows installation from there(I said it Repair not fresh install).
