Places a few hours away from the capital city

A capital city can be a expensive place to stay. Sometimes a few hours from this can be lovely places like interesting towns with lower prices. I loved visiting the gorgeous looking Prague and Cesky Krumlov is even nicer. It has a charming and beautiful town hall, Chinese pagoda and the lovely looking river.
Can you think of places similar to that?

Dear friend,
Here in India, the capital city considered is New Delhi, things we do get here and cost also varies. But the quality would be a matter. But rather than ciites there are other places where there are lovely places especailly those Norther East States of India, those chinese food and chinese things much similar there.
