What to say, how to save a suicidal person?

I find that if we stumble upon someone suffering it means God (or the universe for some) is telling us to help this person, no matter what, even if this is online or we just heard about someone but didn't actually met the suicidal person. But how can we stop when someone went too far? They usually try 2 or 3 times before succeeding, how to convince them?

Usually, the more you convince them not to kill the, selves, the more they bring up the topic of wanting to die. Just always be there for them and support them and ask them questions as to how they are planning to hurt themselves and pay close attention to them as they might do it.

Remind them of all the people who care about them. As a last resort, you could try to guilt them out of it. Mentioning all the people who would be left hurting. It has worked before. When you are at your lowest point, all you have is up to go. Try to acknowledge their pain, but be optimistic .

You know what, if nothing else works stop them from doing it by reminding them they'll leave a lot of people really hurt might be the last chance to stop them.
