I know some adults who are also afraid of needles, so you are not alone. I am also afraid of needles, but what's so weird about it is that I even want to look at the needle while the nurse is giving me shots or drawing my blood out. I just want to look but deep inside I am shaking. I have been very vocal about this yet they are also amazed how I can stand looking at the needle. I guess I;m just weird that way lol!

You are not weird, a lot of people are like so. its good as long as you do not withdraw your arm during the procedure.

Yeah, I am scared of that too. But I don't shout or scream. I just close my eyes and not look.

that really helps, not thinking about it also helps, but not thinking practically is hard to do too. Haha.

Hahaha lol. If i was your nurse, I would totally might not control my laugh too. Well, Before injecting need you to tell what is it for, and make you calm if you feel not comfortable. Best part, is not see it and just relax your mind. It do no harm at all, do not be afraid. It is just like a tiny bite. Just think that an ant bites you. lol

I find it really funny coz during my College days, since I took up Dentistry, we would be using syringes to inject anethesia to some of our patients. And I get irritated when there is a patient who would be saying that he is afraid of the needle and blah blah blah. But when it was my turn to be injected when I had to get rid of my 3 wisdom teeth, I swear I could almost sink inside the dental chair!

Before I am afraid of injection especially when I was young because i thought i could kill me and it really hurt so bad. But when I become a nurse and got lots of vaccinations to protect myself I got used to it and I am not afraid anymore because it feels like a small prick.

I know exactly how you feel, when i was still in school and we'd have to practice on each other giving ourselves shots and having people put on iv lines on each other, it would take me days to condition myself. And I'd be so nervous until my turn came. One time during the iv practical, a dummy was available but my classmates opted to do one on one insertion rather than to try it on the dummy first, i was so scared and chickened out, i was the only one who used the dummy lol. I am still afraid of the needles though lol. I still haven't gotten over it.

Your fear is only natural and there is nothing to be ashamed about. One of my close friends feels faint at the sight of needles, whereas they do not bother me: we are all different and are afraid of different things. You could try not looking at the needle, while talking to someone so that you are absolutely distracted.
