Hi friends, do I need to verify and/or link a bank account to Paypal if I'm just going to use it for online shopping? Sorry for my ignorance, I have never used Paypal before, I'm still learning everything. I can't seem to find a similar discussion, I need your help. Thank you guys!

Generally, you can use your paypal even without balance. And if that is the case, you really need to link it with a bank account or a credit card. However, if your Paypal has enough balance that would suffice the amount of the thing you wanted to buy, you need not link it anymore. But personally, I would suggest that you verify your account in order to have a smooth transaction with the site. You can do it with visa or master card with a very minimal amount. This will remove the sending and receiving limit of your paypal account Have a nice day!

Thank you, that's very helpful. I'm just scared to put my credit card information there.

Is it easy to apply for a smart money? I heard that BDO or charges a big amount with regards to paypal transactions, not sure thought just heard it somewhere. Most of them would recommend opening a Uninbank EON card.

Actually, I did not use my credit card to verify my Paypal account. I bought smart money card and that is the one I used. I was also afraid to use my credit card during that time. It was easier because I link my smart money to my phone and do everything through texting and by being online at the same time.

You need to link a bank so that it can be verified. And most online sites do need your paypal to be verified. If you know anything about earning online and you prefer to use paypal as a means of e-wallet, then I suggest that you need to verify your paypal account by linking your bank details into it, you can also use ur credit card for that.

Hello, kourdapya! Yes, you still need to link your bank account for verification purposes. a 4 digit code will be sent to your next month's statement of account which you need to type in to your Paypal account for it to be verified. But if you have online banking, the code shows up in 3-4 days.

Hi jenny1015, I can't use it until my paypal is verified then? Ouch, so I really need a debit card if I don't want to use my credit card there. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. I'd just probably apply a Unionbank, there's one near my place. Thanks again!

Opening an EON account at Union bank is the best option if you wouldn't want your credit card linked to your Paypal account. Anyway, it is just easy to open that account and all you need is to pay the 350 pesos annual fee and show a valid ID. Then they will issue you the debit card in 2 weeks.

if they are accepting pay pal payment then you don't need it you only used visa or credit card or you will exchange your money online then they will ask you to verify it .

Mine is unverified right now and I haven't had a problem with shopping online in general. The only site I have had a problem both buying and selling on with it unverified has been ebay.

Aw! That's sad to know, I've seen some stuff in ebay that I wanted to buy using paypal. Can you share what are those problems in specific? Thank you for your response!
