Hey guys, did anyone knows that mangoes can be a cause of allergies? Well my boss eat mangoes because n their country it is expensive. Now mangoes here is in season that's why it's quite cheap and you can all you can. My boss eat mangoes then suddenly he's face turns red then the next morning he's face is swelling and his body turns red because of swelling. Then we rush him to a near hospital, because the itchiness becomes severe. The doctor told us that he has allergy with mango. So sad for him because they have to stitch and operate his hands for the severe wound and scratches for eating mango. Now he can't eat it anymore because he's afraid to have his allergies again.

mango may cause of allergy but in rare case. it is known to cause immediate and delayed hypersensitivity reactions with redness, soreness and inflammation of the skin and puffiness of the eyes. in other cases symptoms include wheezing dyspnea, caugh, anaphylaxis, angioedema, erythema, urticaria. even pickled and canned mango can cause of allegic reaction.

Hi there. I am so sorry to hear that your boss had allergies. Actually many people have allergies on different food and it is rarely known. I wonder why it is just now that your boss has known about the allergies... or maybe he is one of the few people who has just gotten allergic to the mangoes and it wasn't like that before... some allergies develop overtime... we may be allergic to some foods and we may never know it.

It is true. I remember in the past my classmate ate a little of mango. After that, she felt itchy all over and her skin was red and looked like bitten by the mosquitoes badly. Perhaps we get used to know that the seafood leads to the allergies. But actually mangoes can do the same.

It is my first time to hear of a person who has mango allergies but I have heard of someone who is allergic to vitamin C. I wonder if these two types are related. I cannot imagine anyone allergic to food which is supposed to be healthy.

I had not heard of so much severe allergy due to eating mangoes. True, eating more mangoes can cause uneasiness in body, since they are quite hot. But not aware that mangoes can also cause so much of problem.

A lot of things can cause allergy but not all has the same allergies. And it may be extrinsic to find mangoes as a cause of allergy cause a lot do enjoy eating them.

Wow,it sounds terrible, but I think it depend to different people,as for me,I never hear about that people get allergy from Mango,I like to eat mango very much but I never have the same problem like that, and I think that if people do not eat mango too much then they will not get the allergy.

My sister is allergic to yellow mangoes ever since she's a little kid. She breaks out in rashes but surprisingly the green, unrepentant ones don't affect her like the yellow ripe ones would.
