Our elictric bill has gone up high!!!!!

I live in a boarding hous my house mates and I divide all the bills evenly.. but we were so surprise when we saw our electric bill this months it has gone up high, our monthly eelectric bill is usually reach up to 1000 php or more or less 2000 php,,,and to our surprise the bill this time is more than 3000php..we have same number of persons, same appliances but wow!!!!.. can't believe it!!! I want to complain to the meralco (electric prov.) But I wonder if they would be able to reduce the bill.. Summer has not started yet but they have incresed too much on our bills!!

Is this your most current bill? I think it should be lessened a bit because Meralco has issued a less amount in charges for the past month. On the contrary our bill here in our place have decreased for about 600 pesos from 2800 to 2200 or 2000. Well maybe you can check it with them(Meralco) so they can look into your accounts, sudden blow up in electric bills may mean your box is damaged, someone else was tapping in your lines, etc. so before the bill soars high, better to have reported it already.

yes, ,,,and we couldn't imagine why...lucky, I have no work tomorrow , So I can go to their office to ask about it..actually, this is the second time that it happened to our E-bill.. we just ignored the first incident because it was summertime, we thought It's summer and the Electric bill is doubled right? and it because the following month it decreased, the bill was back to normal. now, this is the second time...but I think it's too much...

Hi ! The Meralco have increase its power rate , but that electric bill was so high , maybe you can call Meralco so they can check your electric meter , many times this happened to many consumer because the meter was not functioning well , so they need to calibrate it again. Have it check , that's the most important thing then you need to talk to the finance officer if there was really problem in meter might some discounts can be given.

I tried calling them this morning but was able to contact the number that is in the bill.. yes, thanks for the advice.. I'll just go to their office,,anyway

Wow, that's a big increase compared to what you usually pay. I'd probably wonder if there was a billing error if my bill changed that much in a single month but we didn't seem to be using more electric than normal. I'd rather have your bill than mine, though... it's been cold here and we're running the electric heaters, so the bill I just got is for about $170. I can't wait until it starts warming up again so we can turn those heaters off.

Are you sure that all of you there has the same appliances? or how about usage? although you have the same appliances electric bill may vary depending on the usage of such appliances.. I'm sure not all of you there evenly use the appliances... Or you should check also if there is flying connection, sometimes it happens when someone makes illegal connection from your connection without your knowledge.

yes, we only have fans and laptops,,and a rice cooker, then lights,,, It's really a huge increased,,,that's what we are also thinking,,,but I hope it's not ..

Hi Mhernandez! That is really a big increase. Have you checked the meter? There might be an error in reading the data. You can inquire to the nearest office so that they can checked the connection. It is not a good thing that we already anticipating that our expenses form something is this amount then suddenly the bill will come with a much higher amount. that could really be frustrating especially if already allocated an amount for that. That's a good start, check with the provider first if there;s any billing errors or any additional charges that they billed you. If there is nothing wrong with the billing and the charges are all about the increase in consumption, maybe it is time to look at the home appliances. Maybe there are some leaks or problem with the fridge, some connections that weren't there before, a new bulb with higher wattage has been installed. Have your connection box checked as well, just in case someone tried to make an illegal connection or tap and ride on your meter.
