Learning Again How to Drive

March 1, 2013 10:25pm CST
I had the chance to try driving (not that serious though) when I was in my secondary school. It gave me a sense of pride that being a young girl I already had my student driver which actually was doctored because I was only fifteen then my aunt's friend from the licensing bureau had to make me older than my actual age. II went to a driving school and I thought I'd be able to drive already. I got it all wrong. My father wouldn't allow me to drive. Later on, my three brothers were the only ones allowed to drive. I never had the chance to have my own car to drive as a single. When I got married, my husband drives. For more than twenty years already that I never got the chance to be in front of a steering wheel to actually drive a car seriously, I lost all my confidence. Specially with my husband who is extremely intelligent (through the years, and growing up, with medals and scholarships, I thought I was bright), I have become dumb and dumber! Well, after a long time, I am again learning how to drive. I am hoping and praying that I would regain my confidence and become a skillful driver. I need to learn fast because I need to drive a service car related to our business when my husband needs to drive another car. I would appreciate tips,, how-to's, important driving knowledge that I need to know, especially from lady drivers out there. :D

the number one thing that will boost your confidence are BLIND SPOT MIRRORS. This allows for more control on the road, visibilty without turning head as much, and ability to dodge the dumbies you once belonged to. A good way to practice driving is to go off-roading it gives you better feel for where your tires are on the road and how your car can respond in more extreme circumstanes. when you are out on the road you are fending for yourself. Things to not do!!! - no matter what do not get into the habit of driving in other peoples blind spots or worse yet... right next to them. these will not only put u at risk but will upset drivers behind u that want to go faster, and will become aggressive when your lackadaisical driving is slowing down their schedule and a lot more people who are slowing building up behind you. In my experience traffic is typically only bad because there are some women like you out on the road who are only capable of watching yourself drive. driving is a team sport and you need to be aware let the speed-junkies pass you! don't cut off or switch lanes to go slower! Most accidents are in the parking lot!!

I am also learning to drive to and I have the fears of I might crash or meet an accident or something. But my friends and family support me and they give a lot of good advice to me. They say just be careful and alert and have self-confidence in yourself. When your behind the wheel your focus should change and all eyes should be on the road and look in the side mirrors from time to time. I followed their advice and I have drove a few times on the road thanks to their support.

Hi Adval and welcome to my lot. First off your not dumber you have just been buffaloed by someone that thinks they are so much better then anyone else and they know more than anyone else. Don't be fooled by that you are smarter then you think God gave you the wisdom to make it through this life for all this time. So don't give up on the gifts that God gave you! Sweetie it is easy to drive just sit down and think about how good you felt when you learned to drive, remember the teacher that taught you, as your riding in the vehicle with anyone else that is driving watch them and what how they use their feet and hands as they drive. It will all come back to you, remember when you learned to ride a bike? Remember how good it felt to accomplish that? Remember how good it felt when you drove with the instructor that taught you how to drive? Study the driving test before you go into the license bureau. Luke 10;18- God gave us the power over all evil in the name of our savior Jesus Christ. Next time you get to thinking you are getting dumber tell that evil in Jesus name to go back to where it came from in Jesus name and it will leave you because it is scared of Jesus Christ. You were made by God and God made you just the way HE wanted you my friend! Don't let anything make you get off track keep your mind made up to do the best you can and pray that God will give you the strength and you will pass with flying colors ! Gods will be done in your life this day and every day!

He he I read all text with very big interest. I am planing too learn how to drive this or next summer, but I will need do it on my own on driving school. Because, my father is very angry if you make mistake while driving. I know this experience when my brother learned how to drive together with my father. He went to driving school and learned it very fast and do exam without mistakes. If we talk about you then I still have fellow question: Did you know all signs? If yes you can go to driving school and start to study it again. Nowadays teachers in driving schools are very friendly and always will say a joke if you will do a funny mistake. I am sure you will done your exam fast and without any problems, because you sound like full with enthusiasm. My tip would be try to always be in great mood before siting in car.

Hi I think it takes a lot of courage to get your drivers licence, I was helping my cousin last year she has put it off as well and she was very nervous, but I kept trying to reassure her and I had suggested she take driving lessons ( I did myself) and I learned a lot. The more you drive the more confident you will become. It is easier said than done (but try to relax)! Really important for anyone learning No distractions at all, you always need your full attention when driving.
