NYPD stands for New York Police Department. Each city has their own name for their police department. It is usually the name of the city or town and then police department behind it. New York's is used a lot in games and such because it is a bigger city and more well known then a small city. Hope that explains it better for you.

Nice description,, But I have 1 question, if US claim that they are 'Universal Police', so is that mean New York Police is the best police in the world?

NYPD are police who live in New york. I have no idea what US police are because there are police departments in every city in the United States. There are also State Police who take care of things that the city police can't handle.

Every jurisdiction has its own police force. NYPD is New York only.

Each city has its own police department. NYPD is the New York City police department. LAPD is the Los Angeles police department, and so it goes.

As the other responses have said, NYPD is the New York police, and every city or borough has their own police department. For example Los Angeles would be LAPD, etc.
