Have you imagined your in a air conditioned room. and when that room will later be occupied with many people then it gets hotter. and it seems the air conditioned are not able to provide coolness for such people. That is what we experience here in Manila. It's not only because of the pollution. It's not only because of thinning of ozone layer but one alarming factor of heat here is the population if you see how small is manila in map but look how many people are occupying such space.more or less 14 million we are living here. So that is one of the reason why it's hot here in manila compared to other place.Imagine in the next decade.Where should people live? how much hotter will be by growing population. how water supply here in manila will occupy a growing number of people. That is one reason why there are many condominiums build here. I can't rarely see trees too which cleans the air, adding the growing number of transportation here..If the government will not implement the RH Bill. Then how our children will survived. We are very small country in the archipelago yet included in top 10 large population in the world. Imagine how many sq.meters are in the Philippines and divided by the people living there. if it continue to grow up rapidly. Then if the sq.meter already occupied where will the others live?We cannot cut trees or destroy forest because then we will have ecological imbalance which will cause disaster and harm to our health.I remember a few years ago a hill who made a subdivision after a heavy rain it was landslide and many people died because they were buried alive with their new house.

That is one of the problems of the Philippine government. The effect of the global warming risen in the city because of degrading of some trees that help the environment to become cool. Not just the heat that in the area felt but the blooming of the population merely affects the way of living. More population but lack of work. The president Noynoy Aquino said that our economy are now going better. But some could not see the effect of what he said. Peso is now more high than dollars but how about the OFWs they are more affected with this.

we do have programs lately but was done by NGO's and some foundations media have shared in their shows about the tree planting and reviving the natures habitat. the only thing you will see of global warning is only in manila or parts of the NCR, you won't see that much on other places.

Hello fearlessgara, i believe now that it has nothing to do with the people who gives birth to children of have many children. the problem lies with discipline and the political will of the government to plan and create a sound more less traffic kind of a metropolis. it comes with the architechtural planning in creating apartments and dorms that can fit a person. we still lack more infrastructures, if only the government is not corrupt

Manila is over populated because most earning opportunities are there.if only the government would made all the provinces progressive.no one will go to manila to earn a decent living and most people will go back to their provinces to work there.its in the right distribution of wealth on the side of the government.

Hi, If you confine your sights to the city, it would appear that we are a congested country. You should travel a few kilometers away from it and you shall see wide tracks of land with not even a single soul. You should try it. Maybe it is time to think why people flock to the cities and leave the countryside? Is it for livelihood or easy life? There is an allure to the cities that make it so, people pack up their bags and head there with hopes of making it big rather than staying home and wither away in some unknown corner, thus the perceived increase in the population and congestion problems with the higher density of people per square meter.

That 's one of the things why I hates living in Manila..I opt to work here in the province with a bit low salary compared to manila than to work in manila and suffer with such kind of environment... crowded places, everbody is in hurry, crowded streets and no fresh air to breath ... I think people can't live anymore there without aircondition. I hope by implementing such RH bill will surely solve this main problem in Manila.. Lets see and let's hope for the best.

im actually living in manila before, me and my husband decided to migrate here in davao because of the situation in manila, its true that it is already crowded. so when i got here in davao my body is not used to the climate.. anyway i think the solution to that over population in manila aside from RH bill is the job. i think the goverment should help business investors to put businesses in other regions of the country. gladly here in davao there are a lot of job. the cause of overcrowding in manila is because of the people from the provinces and other regions migrate there in manila hoping they could find better job.

Given how bad the conditions seem to be getting, I wonder if the example of HK can be applied. It still clean out there and in pictures there are no visible areas of slums. But if you look at the website, you can see how strict they are in the use of space: http://www.theatlanticcities.com/housing/2013/02/apartments-so-small-they-can-only-be-photographed-above/4780/
