Winning third Test difficult for India?

India
March 14, 2013 10:25pm CST
After the first day got washed out, the rains also washed out any chances of India winning the third Test match. I think, it will be advantageous to the Australians. Within four days India had won the previous match, but I don't think the same can happen again. What are your views?

Hi abhi_bangal. The way the Australians are batting now. I think they will score at least a 400. And that would mean that this test would end up in draw. So India would win the test series. This is all too early to predict but this is how things look for now. Have a nice day !! SuperShames

Yes, it is too early to predict the outcome right now. Looking at the current scenario with Australia 273/7 and day two over, it does not look like Australia will go past 400 runs. But I should again say that one can never say anything. But I can only say that India plays to its potential and wins!

Yes, I know when you predicted that. But cricket is such a game that it can turn on its head in a matter of a few minutes. When Australia was well sitted on 244/4, no one would have thought that they would be reduced to 244/6. And when they were 139 without any loss, no one would have thought that they would lose 7 wickets in two sessions.

Hi abhi_bangal. Well I made my predictions based on the score of session 2. But yes after the session 3 it looks like they will not make it to 400. There is still a chance that India might win. But then anything can happen. Let us hope India owns Day 3 as well.. Have a nice day !!

Well, perhaps that true. The likely result is a draw unless and until India can get a hugh lead within one and half days time and get Aussies in real trouble from beginning. One whole day of rin was a big spoilsport. But then Mohali is a great pitch and if India try hard things could go their way.But then problem here is time for getting a credible score.Hopefully the bowling line up of India looks good and should help in getting some early breakthroughs.I anticipate Jadeja and Ashwin to play a big role in Mohali.Plus Aussies will be in little pressure to prove things while Indians can be little advantagous as for the series is already in their hands if the test goes for a draw.In a way, it is a blessing to Aussies, as they have lost some of their big players to discipline. So a draw should help them restore some pride though it would also mean losing the series. It will be something possible with weak team and in a way better. But for India, it would be a big loss as well as a series whitewash is very much possible if they try hard. They woudl rue the rain for every other reason.Hope to see a result in this test like most cricket fans and one that favours India. Thanks!

I too hope that the bowlers like Jadeja, Ashwin and Ojha should make life difficult for the Aussies. Did you see how Starc got two wickets in one over? If Starc can do it, our Bhuvi too can do it. If he strikes early on, in fact today itself, Australia will be certainly doomed. Because then they will have to face the bowling of the spinners for the entire day and I don't think that is possible. So, India still has a chance. But it depends on the will to win, especially for Dhoni.

Hello, yes it is not sure that India will win third test. I read in evening news paper that Australia make 62 runs without losing any wicket. They are playing carefully. But it is cricket every thing is possible in this game.

In fact, Australia had made 139 runs without losing a wicket. But then they collapsed and lost 7 wickets in 112 runs. So, that's very much likely that the match can turn anywhere. We should see how India bats and only then can we predict.

It's now official that India has won this match in an emphatic style and has taken an unassailable lead. If you look back, Aussies have lost 6 match continuously on Indian soil and Dhoni has defeated Aussies 7 out of 7 on Indian soil. So, Aussies records are becoming terrible in India. India should go for an all mighty kill in Delhi to give a 8 successive defeat to Australia.

Yes, I had heard that the Aussies have lost those many matches in India. I also congratulate Dhoni for that. And I wish that people now remember Dhoni not for his 8 losses on the trot, but for defeating Australia in continuous 3 matches

The match is probably going towards a draw,as it's a four day test match, but you never know what will happen in cricket. Judging by Australia's last performence India might have a change to win this test also...

If India manages to score fast and bowl out Australia once again, only then India can have any hopes of winning the match. As far as the current situation is concerned, I don't think India will bat at a brisk pace. I am not sure what stance India takes, but it looks like a draw at the moment.

The third day is important for both teams, in fact. This will more or less decide where the match is headed. However, only a single day's place cannot decide the outcome of any Test match unless a team plays too poor cricket.

I think most probably India will win the third test with only two wicket to fall at the current time. I think it is good to win the matches for team India.

At the present condition, it is really difficult for team India to win this test match. After winning the toss Australia now have a steady start with 61 runs on the board without loosing any wicket.Yes now I should say Aussies are having a very good chance of saving this test match. Also a day's play was completely washed away due to rain. Now the Indian batsmen and especially bowlers should perform well if we need a victory in this test match.

A day's play has been washed off. But I guess, they will try to cover up as much as they can. See, 104 overs were bowled today. That is 14 more overs for the day. I think they should start the game a bit early and end a bit late too. They should do this on all the remaining days so that more of the lost time can be gotten back. As the day ended today, Australia have lost 7 wickets. I guess, the way they started and didn't lose a single wicket in the entire first session, scoring just 273 runs is too small a total considering the fact that 14 overs were bowled more. So, they are batting too slow. The Indian bowlers will have to bowl them out as early as they can tomorrow so that it will give the Indian batsmen an early chance to bat. Let's see what happens.

Hi abhi Well, time of guessing is already over as India already won the third match. But you were right that it was little hard to beat australia in just 4 days. But I am amazed that India still able to did it. Now its all abut guessing for 4th test and if India can white wash the Australia in this series. Well guessing game can be on, but surely it is hard to predict as we are against Australia, and they can come back on anytime. I hope next match will be more interesting then being just one sided.
