What do you do when you are depressed? me i am on prozac for depression but if i still feel depressed i pet and play with my dogs sleep go for walks when the weather is nice and warm i go on mylot and listen to music. I have severe depression from a head injury i got when hit by a hit and run car at 8 yrs old. so when i am depressed i do take my meds. Tho there are still times i feel depressed and like dying and such but i don't want to kill myself. So when i am depressed and home alone like when hubby is at work i get on mylot sleep play with and pet my dogs go out side for a walk if the weather is nice and warm enough and some times i watch t.v. So what do you do when you are depressed and what helps you when you are depressed? When hubby is home with me i cuddle up with him or talk to him. My hubby has been very helpful with me on my depression.

You are lucky to have found a husband like him to support you and does understand your situation. There was a time a few years back that I have been in a very difficult situation. It came to a point of wanting to end my own life, but good thing is, it was prevented from happening. No, I did not seek any professional help coz I was aware of the cause of my depression. I taught myself to accept what has happened and to forgive myself for ever being in that situation. I prayed hard to give me THAT focus in getting out of the whole. And I did, after several months. I would still think about it every now and then, but at least I get in control of my feelings.

Thank you for saying i'm lucky to have a husband that supports me. I think i am very lucky and this is why i do not kill myself when i get really depressed. I think of how lucky i am to have the hubby and family and friends i have and roof over my head money in the bank food in my belly and clothes on my back. Also i think of what if i had succeeded in killing myself when i tried twice as a teen. then i wouldn't have met my hubby or my niece or nephews or have the life i do today so i don't try to kill myself anymore.

If you feel that depression might start kicking in, have a picture of your family and friends in your mind. This will remind you to give value to your life. Have a great day ahead!

I dont now how much you now about the stars but at the moment were going through a mercury retrograde which tends to cause misunderstandings, communication problems, feeling down, arguments, it even causes communication problems with computers like emails not being sent or recieved, cars break down, car smashes, electrical breaks but were nearly finished the mercury retrograde so hopefully you should start to feel better in less than a week. Also positive affirmations work for me to try and keep myself positive. I brought a few paintings to hang in the house about dreaming and setting goals, being positive, I brought one that just said "Believe" and hung it in my room so when i woke up everyday the first thing i saw when i sat up was something positive. Look for things that bring inspiration and joy to help cheer you up. Hope this helps.

Oh no, you don't take your own life, its just seasonal depression, its good to know that you walk your dogs when you are depressed, a good remedy relieving stress. Good hubby on your side to cheer you up is important. Most importantly, have a good meal and rest when you are depressed, I mean a good one.

I take antidepressants, but I still get depressions sometimes. This february my depressions returned and I had to spend to some time at a psychiatric hospital, but when my depression is less severe I try to find ways to deal with my depression in my home. I do many of the same things as you. I like to spend time with my pets (I have 5 pets), listen to music, go for a walk or drive around in our local area. It often helps me to go for a walk. That was one of the things that my doctor told me when I had my first depression and I didn't really think that it would make a difference, but I discovered it did help me to spend time outside. My husband is also a big help. We he is home I am always able to talk to him when I feel bad, and when I am alone I try to find other activities like online discussions.

Hi! I suggest you pray. God is there to hear you and comfort you. I assure you that. He is going to heal your depression.

I was diagnosed with a very serious illness and had to see a therapist (I guess that is what he was) and he prescribed me Wellbutrin. It kind of worked but I guess my depression wasn't deemed that serious because there weren't any refills on that meds. I didn't take them everyday because I didn't see the need to be what I called artificially happy for a few hours a day. Now, when I feel depressed, I try to relax and pray a little. Spending time with my son also helps but I can't help but to think that maybe I might need some more antidepressants..
