It is quite normal these days to see students working part-time. Back in my time which is 10 years ago, there were not many opportunities. I started working part-time only when I enter university. It was a job with Sony Music. My job was to take care of artists doing album promotions. It is a lot of fun, I did a lot of music promotions and concerts. There was no money given, I did it for my own interest. I am sure most people will want to work for money these days. So what is your part-time job? If I am student now, I want to work in Starbucks!

Working in the university is always a good choice for undergrads. This is especially true if students study in a foreign country. They have jobs on campus which allows foreign students to earn some pocket money.

When I was in high school, I worked as a radio reporter in order to have additional amount for my allowance. I thought that would be my line of interest however, time change and I lost interest on that field. As of now, it would be an ordinary thing to see students working in fast food chains and other business establishments. It is a good practice as they would be able to develop their patience and could help them with their studies in terms of finance. Have a great day!

What does a radio reporter do? I agree it is important for students to learn about finances and the proper work attitude. However, I will be worried if they find money comes easy, they will buy whatever they want and keep looking for more money. In the end, they lose interest to study.

I had worked part-time while attending college until my mother-in-law had been hospitalized. I had gotten a call on my break saying that my mother-in-law was rushed to the hospital and I needed to come immediately. I told my supervisor that I needed to leave and she said, well what's more important your job or family. Obviously I chose family and never went back. I was told that I was fired, but I felt good because I know that I made the right decision to stay with my mother-in-law. It sounds like you had a great job.

Sorry to hear that. How can your supervisor be do inconsiderate? Emergencies happened once in a while. Family is more important than job. You were right to leave.

Medical Course is a lot of hard work. You need to be 100% committed in order to serve the people well one day. It is a noble job. Keep up the good work!

I will be going to school in the fall. I need to take some classes in order to practice my profession in this country. Since I have lots of time before then, I am hoping to get a part time job as early as now. I would love to work at Starbucks since I am big on coffee. If not there, I would like to work in any state office as a clerk.

Working in Starbucks as a barista is very interesting. I do have part-time job when I am in the college. I normally work during the semester break or full time and study part-time. However, it is quite tiring after a full time job and study at the same time. If I have money, I prefer to pursue full time studies and complete it as fast as possible and start working.

Yes i completely agree to you on this that some years back there were far too less opportunities to work part time and even if u get one it was just less amount that was being paid. but the scenario has changed completely as u can see many people working part time and they r satisfied with the amount given to them which is great.
