The Plank exercise

I saw an article online that said doing crunches was a waste of time and that doing The Plank was a much better exercise for those muscles. Well I had been doing 180 crunches five days a week so I thought maybe I should look into to it. A search produced a video showing how to do it and it said not to it for longer than 45 seconds but that you would probably have to start out with much shorter times. It didn't saying anything about what one my call repetitions and how much time between doing it. I was able to do 30 seconds the first time but it bothered my shoulders and legs. I got up to about 40 seconds after a few days but my lower back really started bothering me. So I have decided to just go back to the crunches and hope they are good enough. The Plank is not worth the back pain in my opinion.

I remember when Tebowing went out of style, people started posting pictures of themselves planking. What funny to me, is that a chiropractor I used to see has his patients do an exercise very similar to planking.

I have a biggest loser dvd and they do a few of those and I can manage that but not a push up. I don;t have any pain afterwards either.
