There are so many different languages. In the Philippines, there are between 120 and 175 languages. If that so how about in the other countries right? Learning a new language is a great achievement. That is why I am impress with Dr. Jose Rizal, our National Hero who can speak 22 languages. He can speak Tagalog, Spanish, Ilokano, Bisaya, Subanon, Latin, Greek, English, French, German, Arabic, Malay, Sanskrit, Hebrew, Dutch, Catalan, Japanese, Italian, Chinese, Portuguese, Swedish and Russian. Amazing isn't he? As of now I am learning Arabic. I can speak the basics of this language such as Kaifa Haluk which means how are you. Another one is Sabahal Khair meaning Good morning. And when you answer it by Good morning too, you will say Sabahan Nur. I am now at level 1 of my Arabic Language class. I also want to learn Spanish. I know some such as Como estas, Si, Buenas dias and Mi amor. I think that if I will learn this language I am one those classy people who can speak in Spanish. Next is Japanese. Arigato! That's the only word I know. LOL. I am influenced by our History teacher in high school who is fascinated with the Japanese. When I learned about their history and how they gain their independence, I want to be one of them. :D Of course, Maguindanaon and Ilonggo is one of the native languages here in Philippines. I want to learn them to make conversation with them and also I am amazed by their accent. I feel that I belong when I speak their language. Egyptian Hieroglyphics is really impressive on me. So I really did want to learn this. I do not know if this is a language but I want to ;earn this. I am influenced by the Mummy movie series. So how about you what language/s do you want lo learn?

You know there are 1,576 different mother tongues in India of which 22 are recognized as the official languages of the country.I speak 7 different Indian languages here i.e.Hindi,Urdu,Konkani,Marathi,Kannada,Gujarati,Punjabi and know a little Sanskrit,Persian,Arabic and Portuguese.French is closer to English so I can understand but not able speak it.I think learning a new language becomes much easier especially when it shares a lot of words with the language you know of.

I speak two Philippine dialects and understand two more. I of course know the national language too. I know a bit of Mandarine as I worked in a Chinese speaking country and now German coz I work in a German speaking country now. This language is so hard to learn. It just doesn't make sense. Also, I survive in just using English unlike from my job before that I had to force myself to learn Mandarine. I would like to learn French now as it sounds so sexy. Spanish and italian as well coz they are very passionate.:)

Wow that's a lot! I'm struggling in learning romanian here and it's too much for me. The faster way to learn a language is to speak it in everyday conversation So goodluck to you then.

I love seeing other people who love languages! You definitely have your work cut out for you, but never let that stop you or slow you down! I am fairly advanced in Latin, tho the point where I can read texts like The Iliad and . I speak English, as it is my first language. I know enough Spanish that I can understand it, but it takes me a minute or two to figure out how to say things. I taught myself Korean and Japanese, and am conversationally fluent in both languages, but not when it comes to business chit-chat and lingo. I have been studying Chinese (Mandarin) for going on eight years now, and know more than enough to survive if I were randomly dropped somewhere in mainland China. I spent a year studying French, and picked it up pretty quickly. Personally, though, I find European languages really easy to pick up, and I prefer a challenge. See, I am that odd kind of person who studies languages for fun, and picks them up very easily ^.^;;; It is great to see that you are so excited to learn new languages! Best of luck!

Good for you that you do have an enthusiasm when it comes to learning some languages. I really don't have that kind of interest in learning some language. I am also a Pinoy and I knew few dialects. If given the chance or should I say, If I'm not being lazy. I would or I will learn Mandarin, Korean and German.

Well that is absolutely great to hear that u are learning other languages as well. In fact even i would love to master other languages so that we can use it when it is possible for us to do so. I am amazed to hear about Dr. Jose Rizal who can speak 22 languages, he is a great talent. I think it is so difficult to learn a new language but there is lots of fun in doing it.

Yes, indeed he's a genius. :) Yeah I think French is difficult to learn but if you are really interested to know and speak different language there's no impossible in it. Also to make it easier learn a new language one at a time. Because hitting two birds with one stone is not a good strategy. Actually Arabic is not so difficult you just need to understand and relate it to English so can easily remember it. :)

Just like you, my dream is to be able to speak as many language as I can. My mother is Ilocano and I learned to speak that dialect t a very young age even if we all grew up away from the province where that dialect is represented. That's because my parents would always employ people from her province in Luzon. My father on the other hand was Capampangan and I learned that language a bit also. We grew up surrounded by Chinese friends and I had a bestfriend who was Chinese. She taught me some Chinese words. We had Spanish subjects way back so I also have some Spanish in my pocket. I married an Ilongo and right now, it's the dialect I am most familiar with. I almost forgot the other dialects I learned and I regret not being able to progress with those. I really would like to learn and perfect my Chinese along with French, Spanish, Italian and Japanese.

I thought you are not a Filipino because you look like French. so I expect that you are now fluent to speak Ilonggo right Is Chinese difficult to learn? Because they say that a word has many accent which gives different meaning.

there would be less misunderstanding in this world if we all can speak several languages. it is hard learning different languages, especially those with a different alphabet because you really have to start from zero. it's good that you're studying arabic as this is one of the widely spoken languages today. i suggest that you learn french, spanish, and chinese rather than learning the dialects in your country. your national language would be enough. if you can be fluent in these five languages (english, chinese, french, spanish, and arabic), then you will go a long, long way in life (jobwise, that is).

It is fantastic to hear that you are learning other languages. I used to live in a county called Kent and it is close to France. I was able to spend five years learning French. I think it is a lovely language and it is sometimes useful on my travels. I learned a few things in German to help me when I am traveling. I did a learn Spanish course in 2008 and I am keen to learn more of that language. Dr Jose Rizal can speak 22 different languages so that is awesome. I wish I had such an excellent flair in learning many foreign languages. I like to learn languages with the same alphabet as me.

I'm good at learning languages I'm interested in but I'm bad at making them stick when I get no practice. So I'm fluent only in English, I know Italian but not 100% fluent I understand but when I try to speak I feel stuck. I know a tiny bit of German too, I wish I knew more, I'm going to be in Vienna a few months so hope I pick more up
