Hi friends, I've order a steam cleaner on 7th February of 2013 from an online discount shop in my country. The name is MyDeal dot com dot my. I bought it for MYR 178.00, and I thought it was a great bargain because the actual price was like MYR 900 something. I was glad that I ordered it. But now things are different. Now I am really, really mad. Until today they haven't delivered the steam cleaner and I had called them like four times to know what is going on with them. The last time I called them, they were so cold and as if they didn't care about handling this issue. This makes me very, very angry and this is why I want to share about this issue with the whole world. What about you guys? Have you ever been scammed by online shops? Please share your thoughts.

Yes I was once scammed by an online shop though I am an online reseller. I was looking for a supplier who offers cheaper reseller's price than my usual supplier. I've ordered more than 20 pieces shirts and paid the half amount. She delivered 10 shirts and so I paid my balance so she can deliver the other items. One week later my ordered items were not delivered, I've texted her and she had so many alibis like she had forgotten it, she was too busy, out of stocks and etc. I called her so many times but she wasn't answering. It was too frustrating as if you want to talk nasty things to that person but you can't. Take note, the scammer is only fourteen years of age. Imagine how young the scammers today? But then I just moved on and forget what had happened to me. What goes around comes around. If you believe in Karma, then expect that it will return the favor of what he has done to you. Online shop scammers used their pricing strategy which is very lower than the regular selling price. If you notice that, be suspicious. Also, ask other people for references if they made some transactions to that particular online seller. Legit sellers usually have proof of shipping with watermarks in it. Moreover, they also have customers' feedback. If the online seller doesn't have this then it is time for you to think several times before having transactions.

Looking at your experience I believe that the world of internet couldn't be different from the real world. What I mean is when there are scams offline, obviously there are scams online. A supplier should be trustworthy because it's illogical for them to scam people. I mean what's the purpose of them becoming a supplier in the first place. Don't they know that once their reputation goes into the drain eventually they will lose business so they only can reap the short term benefit, which is very little if compared to long term profits. Sigh... How much did you pay for the shirts? What? The scamming person is 14 years old? Oh my.. Looking at how much you lose (for the 10 shirts that never arrived) I understand your frustration, me too, I want to talk nasty things to the customer service but I held back with anger. In my case this website should be credible, as it is in line with Groupon, the popular discount site. I think MyDeal is now dealing with a lousy client which is too ambitious to sell infinite number of steam cleaners but unable to restock effectively. I hope they can settle my issue as soon as possible. Thanks for replying to this post. Have a nice day.

Don't worry though, as you are doing the right thing. That kid should learn his lessons from now onward. As for the mother, I can't say anything because most mothers are like that, they will protect their kids wrong or right. It's good that now you have already warned others about the scam that this kid has done to you and others too. $60 is a big amount of money, I hope one day the kid will realize his mistake and give you a refund as he grows up and be more matured.

I paid P2500 pesos including the shipping fee. this would be at least $60. I was so anxious for it was also the orders of my resellers since I am also supplying shirts here in our local area. As a return of favor, I posted her profile online that buyers should not trust her because she is a scammer. And many of us were scammed by that kid. Actually I talked to her mother and she was tolerating her. She said they will not return my money because I was harassing their child.

Thanks to god, I haven't been scammed by online shop yet. But some of my friends do. They bought some staff at an amazing price but it turns out the staff they bought are usually fake. Plus it's no use to call them to complain. Eventually my friends have to give up and learn the lesson. From my point of view, if something is unbelievably cheap, maybe we should keep an eye on that.

The website that I bought from is supposed to be a credible site because it deals with great companies but lately I've noticed that they have started to give way to new companies and suppliers that we don't know where they come from in the first place. I hope they will realize that opening the doors to companies without credibility even though they want to give a chance to them is somewhat risky. They should at least give these newbies a trial phase before allowing them to market big. I think the steam cleaner company have sold about 10,000 pieces already. How can they be allowed to promote their products aggressively looking at their unclear reputation. I am really angry at them now. I have sent a report to their admin staffs and if they don't take any action I will. I will report to the local customer association about this if they don't respond in this week.

You are doing the right things! Perhaps the problem is the change of the website's strategy and the lack of supervision to the companies. You've mentioned that when you called them, they don't really take it seriously. Then that's their problem. It their service is still smooth, I think the customers will not get as angry as you do.

Thank you for having the same idea as what I've been having. Five to you :) Yes I also believe that they need to change their business strategy and be careful with whom they deal with. Even though a company comes to you with a huge load of merchandise to offer with a big discount, it does not mean that the company is trustworthy. My Deal should have their background checked and all before they are allowed to promote via their site otherwise they are going to damage their reputation in a big way and a big time here. Yes I agree if they have a proper system I would not get as angry as I am now. Anyway I hope you are having a good day. Thanks for your time. Regards.

Speaking of online shops, we really have to make sure we fall into a legitimate shop or referred shop before doing any transactions with them. I was about to be scammed also, I inquired about LED monitor wholesale, but I noticed while we were communicating it seems like the person lacks knowledge about their product. Sometimes he can not answer my questions and shift to another topic. When I looked at their website there were no details listed under about section. There is only a contact number that made me think twice why there was no contact person and address like other sellers have.

You got it right about it, pal. Dealing with a suspicious website is very risky and when they seem not knowledgeable about their own products then there is something to think about.

Hi, Thank you for giving valuable feedback on this post. Is snopes dot com a website that allows you to check the credibility of online shops? Never mind I will check it myself after this. Yes I also check if they offer safe payment gateways, otherwise I won't deal with them at all. If the problem is not settled within this week, I will call the bank that issued my debit card. I don't know if they can stop payment, but I will ask them about this. Again thanks for the very useful insight. I really appreciate it. Have a nice day.

Oh, that must have been an awful experience. I wouldn't say I was scammed, and fortunately, after I wrote them a nicely put but harsh tirade via e-mail, they didn't wanna pay for the product... but. My experience was the following: I ordered two really dicounted Chanel lipsticks on this very site. They offered that I could get it in person (so I don't have to pay a shipping fee), and their showroom is open on Wednesday from this to this time. I went there by public transport, it took about 1,5 hours, and I couldn't get in the building (which they actually shared with 2 other companies). The gate was closed, I tried to push the bell, but it didn't work, there was no other entrance, so I left. Then I got a text that evening that I can get my stuff next week. OK, I went there, and still, I couldn't get in, and I called the customer service phone number (the same that was on the site and which I got the text from), and it wasn't in use. Then I was really angry. So I wrote to them that I don't wanna buy these if I can't get into the store, because I don't wanna pay a shipping free for something which wasn't my fault...

Oh my... that is very annoying yeah, I mean even though you get a big discount on the Chanel lipstick it's still your money and they should have the item ready for pickup. Seeing that you couldn't enter their business premise there must be something wrong with them. So did you finally get the lipstick or did you get a refund?

The latest feedback is that I got the reply from the shop and they said that the delivery is postponed again until sometime in April. I immediately replied stating that including this time, it is already three times that they are postponing the delivery. So I said please send the merchandise within the expected dates otherwise I want my money back. You know what? Just about no more than an hour after I replied to their message, the courier delivery company called me. They said the delivery man was already in my area and he wanted to know how to come to my delivery address. I was like, what? What is going on? I don't understand this, because they said the delivery is going to be postponed until April, but then suddenly they are already here and wanted to send the product. The delivery man came already and now I have the steam cleaner with me. But it's a weird feeling because I have to complain first before they can deliver the item to me. So in short I can't say I am scammed now but I can't say they are efficient either. All in all, it's a lesson to me and I will never deal with this site ever again. I would prefer Groupon instead.

Sorry to hear that uncomfortable situation. We do order online too, but as far as my own experience, we haven't got scammed online since we do review first of the site and read feed backs from buyers before we trust online shops. We also compare prices from site to sites with regards to the item being sold so we are also aware that there are also other sites that offer the same item before we buy. It is important to do a research first before going into online transactions and order an item. So next time, you already learned your lesson to study first and research before buying items online.

Hi, The problem is this website is supposed to be credible enough as it deals with many reputable companies. I have booked a hotel reservation with them and there was no issue. My friends have been buying restaurant discount offers from this website and there were no issues. However, as the site is getting more and more popular I personally feel that they are now careless and they don't actually care whether to deal with reputable or scam companies. They seem to accept everyone who wants to promote things these days, and I thought why not because this site has been credible enough in the past but seeing at what happens now I think we should be careful to deal with online shops even when they already have a big respected reputation all the while. I've never thought that I am going to be scammed by a reputable company! I think you would not be that skeptical to buy from some of the reputable discount sites out there right? It's because they already have a great reputation and now they are digging their own grave hole. If they don't reply and solve this issue within this week, I'll know what I'll do.

Hi, There are online sellers that has no qualm of making off with others money by deceit. I am aware of it so I made it a point to buy only from dealers with buyer protection program, usually filing up a case for non deliveries, defective or wrong items and you get our money back. Outside that, it is open country and the principle of "buyers beware" applies. I keep away from them, going down to the mall if I want something to have especially when it involves large amount of money. Nothing beats buying form an authorized dealer where the item is right in front of me, I can always see its physical form and I can always bring it home right after paying for it.
