In India in the recent past there have been several cases of misbehavior to women in street, in trains, in buses, taxis, autos ; in homes and even in lifts in multi storey apartments.
Because most of the time you are not alone in the lift or may be alone in the home; here are her tips for safety.
There might be a strange male as she prepares to enter a lift in a high-rise apartment late at night; if so than do the following; suppose you need to reach the 10th floor, then press all the buttons up to your destination.
No one will dare attack you in a lift that stops on every floor.
What to do if a stranger tries to attack you when you are alone in your house, than run into the kitchen, because you alone know where the chili powder and turmeric are kept and where the knives and plates are. All these can be turned into deadly weapons. If nothing else, start throwing plates and utensils all over.
Also scream loudly, remember that noise is the greatest enemy of a molester. He does not want to be caught.
Similarly if you are taking an auto or taxi at night; before getting into the auto note down its registration number. Then use your mobile to call your family or friend and pass on the details to them in the language the driver understands.
Even if no one answers your call, just pretend you are in a conversation.
The driver now knows someone has his details and he will be in serious trouble if anything goes wrong. He is now bound to take you home safe and sound.
What if the driver turns into a street he is not supposed to; and you feel you are entering a danger zone?
Just use the handle of your purse or your stole (a wide scarf worn about their shoulders by women) known as ‘dupatta’ to wrap around his neck and pull him back. Within seconds, he will feel choked and helpless.
In case you don’t have a purse or stole just pull him back by his collar. The top button of his shirt would then do the same trick.
Suppose you are stalked at night, then enter a shop or a house and explain your predicament. If it is night and shops are not open, go inside an ATM box that has security guards. They are also monitored by close circuit television.
Be sure because of fear of identification, no one will dare attack you.
I found this so useful hence sharing for benefit of all; I am sure you will find useful, share it with your friends.
Please respond, and comment and ADD YOUR SAFETY TIPS.
Thanks in advance. Professor Dr. B.Saraf. PhD.
Cheers have a lucky day ahead. March 29th 2013.

I like strange people, they make the world interesting. But violent, evil people, that is another thing entirely.

hi,
It is very useful discussion for women. These safety tips must be followed by the woman who is in danger. Every woman should know the self defense measures to save herself from bad people in our society.

Namaskar Sir
Yes, prevention is better than cure
but then, I believe that this is all a bad luck and bad time. When things have to happen, they will happen and you will forget all of these advices if you were destined to be the victim.
For instance- the Dec 16 Rape Case - there were laws, there were people around on the streets - but the victim was destined for the bad. It was her bad day and bad time that they got on to that bus.
I dont deny that what happened was criminal and the doers must be given the harshest of all punishments, but then, my experiences, and researches all lead me to think the above - when the time is bad, all things that you do turn out to be bad.

Great & sure helpful. When in danger, women became absent minded but at least up0n reading these we will have ideas.
I myself, when feeling unsecure while walking alone in the street would enter and establishment. Then contact my dad or friends who could fetch me.
I remember 1 crazy guy with very fierce eyes was approaching one night,i was alone and I felt he was up to s0mething.
he was a meter away, I immediately ran to s0me ladies across the street why shouting 'aunt!'
The guy was sh0cked and immediately went away. The ladies were shocked too,i was alm0st hugging one of them.
That's when I started to bring a nice cutter in my bag. I honestly don't wish to use it in the future but it's just to have something for defense.
Holdaps in a public vehicle even happens here day and night. So to0 dangerous to be alone.
Be safe ladies!
