Hey all a friend of mine has a password on their laptop and forgotten the password to it, unfortunately even when you put it in safe mode it asks for the password. Is there anyway round this or is the only thing to do is wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows? Any help is greatly appreciated

It would help if you said what the operating system is. In XP, trick the system into activating the option to log into the administrator account, from there you can remove user pssword all the best, urban

Well Vista is so bad no one much bothers with it, perhaps time to change back to xp or to windows 7 all the best, urban

Your best bet would be to wipe your drive and reinstall winows you can save your files and important stuff on a hard drive so you don't lose anything important. Try any means of retrieving the password before you do that as it will take up a couple hours of your time to have to reinstall everything that was once on it.

Hi, I have a password remover/resetter but it for Win XP operating systems only. I don't think it shall work on Vista. Maybe there's one somewhere in the utility blogs to download and use it. It is usually included in the installation disk and can be accessed from the boot menu as it loads up on startup.

First, keep guessing the ol' password. Make several smart guesses. Can't remember well? Is there any other users that have account on that Laptop. If yes, I hope he/she's also an administrator so he/she can reset the password for you. You're the only one user? Time to get serious. Use Windows Password Recovery - http://pcsupport.about.com/od/toolsofthetrade/tp/passrecovery.htm Might not be the easiest way, but it surely can be done well if you follow the steps carefully.

You can remove his harddrive and connect it to a PC or another laptop and back up what you need then format it and reinstall windows. Then put your file you backed up back on your PC with a LAN connecting or what not. A
