An estimated 40 lakh TV screens went blank across 38 cities on Monday with deadline for implementation of phase II of digitization coming to an end. I&B ministry sources said 75% of the 1.6 crore has shifted to set of boxes. The centre has ruled out extending the deadline for switching over to digital adressable system despite demands from Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Do you really think that transition from analog to digital is important. There are so many projects that should be look into account before this. This is not that important project that government is adhering to their deadlines. They missed their deadlines in so many projects so why can't they miss here.

Hi, We have bought set top box in last month so we don't have any problem with TV. I don't think digitization is important. We were satisfied with our cable connection. We didn't have any complaint. But we can't do anything against Government rules.

They are not setting deadlines in Nirbhaya gang rape case, they are not setting deadlines on lok pal bill or on metro construction but on digitization they are showing strict demeanor. They are setting deadlines in cash transfer schemes. Anything that is not liked by people, government is setting deadlines.

I stay in Chennai. I was not having DTH till two years back. I took set up box from the cable provider. The service was not good in spite of Setup box provided. then I surrendered that and switched to cable only. I pay Rs.110 for nearly 50+ channels. I also have Airtel DTH wherein I pay Rs.300+ for nearly 120+ channels. service here is good. Now cable is also good. there are lakhs of people who cannot afford to pay Rs.1000 towards set up box and may be happy with cable only. I feel we must give option for people to continue with cable only.

Though the quality is better in set of boxes but all the main channels quality in cable was also excellent. But we are still paying the same amount as we were paying earlier. And the channels list has increased also. But there are also people that cannot afford Rs 1000 for set of boxes. I don't know why government is so hell-bent on digitization when people are happy enough with cables.
