Some months ago I had one of my older grandsons come to my house for diner. He wanted me to teach him to make sushi and we would both eat it for diner. His younger brother was jealous of this and has been pestering me to teach him It is not my fault that it hasn`t been done before: children are full of things to do nowadays. Finally he is coming today. He is 12 years old and loves sushi. His father took him to eat sushi, but he is not taking him anymore now that a judge forced him to give my daughter some child support for the boy. He is telling my grandson how he is so poor now that the witch (my daughter) is stealing is money.I should not comment. I don`t want to put bad words here. Still, I think it is a moment when the boy is not having such a good time. And maybe this sushi lesons will help a bit, at least for an evening. So I bought an avocado, salmon and will check again the rice recipe for sushi as I will make the rice before he comes. I have found that doing things together with a child (or with any person) is a very good way to cuddle. I have helped friends while gardening together and they have done the same with me. Cooking is another good idea and knitting together isalso a good way. I have a friend fond of yatching and he has has beautiful moments with his children while cleaning up the boat or taking them for a ride. Do you have these moments with your loved ones? What do you do? Share!

Ah, another sushi hater! I cooked the rice the way you suggested and it turned out so good maria. Thank you so much In future I am going to fry the rice after I have cooked it in other ways that people suggested. Again - many thanks. My son enjoyed it too

I really hate most fish. But hate uncooked fish even more. My dad and brother would eat sushi every single day. Not this girl...

I am not that much fan of sushi. But Diego wanted to learn how to make it. His father used to take him to eat sushi and now he doesn`t. It`s yet another way of trying to manipulate my daughter through the boy.

I have found in life that when we were doing things as a family or working together then the children would often voice their worries. They seemed to prefer to do it this wat than a sit down face to face talk with them. Of course, we tried to have and did have one on one time with all of our four children. I do the same with my grands. It is amazing what fun is had and what they will come out with when we rae deheading a few flowers or something as even as simple as colouring a picture together. I wish you happiness with your son and I would love to come to dinner some time with you - but please don't cook sushi

I love avocados. I could eat avocados everyday. I know several dips and entreesthat you can make with them, but just my everyday bread with avocado with a bit of salt will make me very happy

I can make a lot of nice, no fish, dishes for you cynthiann. It is just that Diego wanted to learn to make sushi. It is because I taught his brother some months ago. It was his own asking too. I am specially worried about Diego because his father is the kind of people I despise. Fortunatly he lives with my daughter, but he has visiting rights. I`m sure we will talk together while we do the rolls. We`ll make some will salmon and some with avocado. If you pass by, you can have some with avocados.

I have to say I have those moments here with my family and they are great! my only family here in Australia are my children and the friends I made over the years and all are precious to me we often get together and have a cook out which means we all make a dish from our country and sing and laugh and socialize and young and old join in!

I think all these you mentioned above, they are the most precious moments of a family time. Although I am still single, I can visualize that how warm and lovely to spend the most quality time with your children. I want to have my children, and I want to get married and start a family too. I love children, and I wish that I can be a good father, and provide them the best I can. Learning to cook with them, and cleaning the house with them can be fun and most memorable for me.

I had a lovely time yesterday with my grandson. He told me things that he usually will not tell his own mother so it was very important. Sushi came out wonderful and I went straight to bed after my daughter came to pick him up. I told him that I was looking forward for another visit with him, but with easier to make meals.

That's wonderful. At least you have time for others...a rare thing these days. Keep it up dear friend. If nobody recognizes the good work rest assured the almighty does.

I love my family. And I have to make the most of it while grandchildren are small. The eldest are doing a lot of things and have little time for family.

Well, that is not a good thing for the boy's dad to say about your daughter. But at least since he can't afford to buy him sushi anymore, this paved way for you to spend more time with your grandson and teach him something that only you can do for them.

My grandson`s father can buy him sushi. He has enough money to buy each new electronic devise that comes into being. That man want`s my grandson to feel sorry for him and to think that my daughter is steinling money from him when it has been the other way around for years until a judge put an end to that. I will talk with Diego, but not about this.

I have special moments with my kids as well. They would always want to do whatever mom is doing. So sometimes, I ask their help in the kitchen. They can do small things and I think that they enjoy them a lot. Plus it is one of our bonding moments.
