Let's admit it, we get jealous of those french women who no matter how they are always surrounded by fatty foods, they still manage to stay slim. How did they do it? Here's the article I just read. It's one of ones that come out on top in google search. http://www.lesliepepper.com/writer/detail.asp?content=5&category=2 Anyway, I really like the last tip. I just knew that was the key! It's not really a secret! This activity is actually healthy for us, provided that it is done at the right time and with the right partner. -sigh- It's a shame really, I guess I can only go for the first few tips except for the last one. what the heck...

Genes is another factor. You are fortunate to have such a body type. No diet or practice is suited for everyone.

Again, genetics, eating habits, etc play a part. Maybe your brother and you got the slim genes and your sisters got the big genes. You might wanna check your ancestors' body types.

Maybe, but my 2 sister are both big girls. My brother and I are the small ones.

There are many people who are fond of fatty food but they remain slim, this is because of some of their habits like their physical exercise, yoga etc and not country. Today obesity is one of the serious problem in france, men women and children all are having this problem.

I guess not all french are slim. But women there, many of them, do care about their image so they do their best to stay slim.

Yes. Thank you for that information, yugo. It's a pain to try and be slim. I don't exactly live in France. I read that France is a very conducive environment for exercise.

What you need to stay slim is physical exercise, it is extra calories which is responsible for being chubby. You can eat whenever you like but take care with exercise which will digest the extra calories, if not than body will transform the undigested calories into fat which will ultimately lead to obesity.

If you think that you will not succeed if you do not resort to the last one you are sadly mistaken Anyway, I would suggest that you first try the following which I picked up from the link that you have provided which apparently the French believe in. Why only the French it is applicable to the whole world. Talk to coworkers face-to-face, not via E- mail. Get up to change channels on TV. Try taking the stairs instead of using elĀevators or escalators- -both ways. Plan active social activities with friends. Go dancing, skating, or walking as opposed to sitting in a bar or movie theater. Make a start there and see how it pans out. Good Luck Aja but sorry that you cannot yet get to the last recommendation!

No, I don't think the last one was a necessary step. But it would have been a fun activity to do, it's fun and it keeps us healthy. That's why I think it is a bit of shame not being allowed to do it since I am not married. Yeah, I will go ahead and apply them whenever I get the chance. Thank you for the additional inputs! Haha! It's okay. I'll get over that last recommendation.

Ha ha I have read the last tip of the article. Yeah. For me, the last tip is quite difficult. Just imagine, if we ended a worst partner, the situation is we might be eating too much food especially if we are depress and stress but, not all women would do that thing. It is just some of them or if a woman is still single, her attention is always craving for food and again, not all women would do that thing.

The last tip is suited for those with partners or are already married. Haha, that's true. I heard some singles prefer to console themselves with food and it's possible they would over eat.

IT's difficult not to eat snacks when all around you at the office eats it. Besides, working makes you hungry again after lunch. I admire the French people for staying that way.

So you see, peer pressure is really a factor., even in slimming . But it is also a factor in eating. Specially when you see that their snacks seems so delicious.

I forgot to mention but french are more likely to do this because almost every other french they see is also doing it. There is also the peer pressure factor, the french say, that one has to look good at all times and take care of their figure. Something like that, I read it in another article. It's not all the french but most french are like into aesthetics. I know LOL it is hard to do especially when people around us are such gluts it makes us jealous. that is why it is important to have strong will and discipline.

Hi Aja! Thanks for sharing the link of an informative article. It tells what is the secret of staying slim, as far as French are concerned. They eat in small portions and don't like to have snacks. I think what they follow is most appropriate to keep us healthy and fit. If you could all the tips, except the last one, I think you would remain fit and healthy with a nice figure. I think what you have mentioned about the right partner, French probably indulge in lustful activities with their partners only, not with X, Y or Z.

I'm not sure how french people deal with their umm intimate relationships, but yeah, they are not for their 'amour' factor. Thank you deepak! French people like sports, I mean, after all, it was their ancestors that revived the Olympics, If I recall correctly.

It will be tough to adjust ourselves to do something similar done in another culture. It's better to try. I am also doing this now to see if it really works.

Oh, I forgot to mention this is not my article. It is just something I found online. Haha, you like the last tip too? Well, if there really is nobody to do it with, might as well double our efforts using the other tips.

I guess, there is some truth about what the article is saying. I have a teenage daughter who does the same with regards to her eating habits. She chews her food long enough before she swallows it and it's done little by little. The first to start but the last to finish. She usually had snacks between meals and at night before bed and still her weight is just proportionate to her height. She learned this habit when she was still in primary school. She is also fond of eating sweets but still her weight is maintained. About the last tip, I guess it helps too.

Wow, your daughter did a good job. I'm just starting this habit of eating french style now. I'm trying to see if this method will work for me. Maybe it really does, your daughter is living proof. The good thing about this method is that we can eat whatever we like as long as we don't eat it excessively and we keep active at some hours of the day. Good for those people who can do the last tip. I'm jealous.

i think this article has the most simple tips to losing and maintaining a healthy weight out there. It doesn't require you to exercise excessively and it isn't as picky with food choices. Of course, each person has his or her own way to lose weight and stay slim.

Well do you know why the food is surrounding them instead of being in them? Maybe it is because french food is so expensive they can't AFFORD to eat it and that is how they stay slim. I personally prefer Italian food which is cheaper, less pretentious and tastes just as good if not better. Plus I think Italian food is healthy, with all the tomatoes and olives.

Haha, I love italian food! Their diet is full of carb though, but they are balanced with tomatoes and other vegetables. Italian food takes long to digest. I have not eaten any french food. Maybe their food is pretentious? I don't know. Maybe they just like fancy stuff. Only people who have lived in france know how it truly is to live there. Also there is that factor that french food is expensive and kind of over rated. Anyway, who cares if the food is pretentious, their way of eating and being careful about their health shows results, that is what matters.

i always thought about it,why french people are always slim, one of my friend is french guy and he really eats much,so i was always thinking why and how he can stay slim. maybe its because of their dna,i dont know, but if you wanna stay thin, you just need to do some exercise everyday even just 40 minutes. if you regularly do exercise ,even you eat much you can stay fit we people are always lazy to move, thats why we all have cars happy mylotting

One great way of losing extra weight is having to walk to places that we are going instead of taking the car all the time.

Given that the environment is safe, not too hot, not too cold and when we are not in a hurry, yes, we could always choose to walk instead of using cars to get there.
