So, there was a sense of disturbing presence in the room, a young child, skipping around the bed and singing nursery rhymes. Or, the child would sit by the side and start talk in some strange languages. Then, one night, the tot asked a strange personal question. When he could not get the answer, the child suddenly transformed into a "horrendous demon". Or, for many days the room has been filled with unexplained renovation noises, people talking to each other and all of a sudden someone appears by the bedside trying to suffocate the life out of you with a pillow. If you are having these experiences on the frequent, don't panic an most of all, make a call for Ghost busters. According to medical experts, there is a valid medical explanation for this and it is being diagnosed as Sleep Paralysis. Experts say that this condition would make the affected person become conscious while their muscles remain in the ultra-relaxed state that prevent them from acting out their dreams. It is equally surprising that conducted surveys put the number of sleep paralysis sufferers to be between about 5 percent and 60 percent of the population. According to the article, this disorder answers a lot of paranormal experiences like the strange paranormal presence in a room, someone turning into a demon, demonic attacks, alien abductions, ghosts and ghouls. Like the feeling of being suffocated by demons or the pushing down on the chest is but the attempt of making the involuntary automatic breathing pattern into voluntary control leading to the suffocation experience. I am not invalidating anyone but what the medical experts are saying does appear to hold some ground. However, it is hard to refute that paranormal exist especially when people have encounters during waking hours. Now, there are experiences it when we are awake, I cannot invalidate that demons do not exist when we are asleep. Can we? I knew of this as my second son as a teenager and in his early twenties would wake up unable to breathe and he would panic and rush into our room. I was really concerned and took him to a very kind Priest who I knew would encourage him to talk. This son always had dificulty in expressing his emotions as he has some learning disabilities. The Priest gave him his cross and I knew that this was to comfort my son and it did for it never happened again. I later learnt that this is quite common among adolescent young men and it then had a different name. Maybe he just needed to clutch the cross and go to sleep - this was his scurity blanket as it were. Whatever. It worked for him.

It is experiences like this that makes me skeptical to invalidate the existence of the paranormal and supernatural. To me this is just part answer to a restricted occurrence and not every. How's your second son doing now?

I forgot to add that what for him seemed to be an eternity but with each episode he could not move or speak for a while and then he would creep into our room and lay across the bottom of the bed to sleep.

I am sure that this paralysis can explain quite a few of the stories we hear. The demonic stuff is very prevalent. But, what about the ones that don't happen at night? A lot of these stories take place when there is renovation taking place or things are moved. Interesting.

That is the reason why I stated that I could not invalidate the paranormal and supernatural because there are incidents that happen in our waking broad daylight hours.

Yes, some could be demons and this paralysis but others are still unexplainable.

I have read an article about this, too. And probably this is the real reason behind those reported paranormal experiences of some people. It is juts however, hard to prove that this happens in an individual unless he submits himself for further evaluation.

I agree with you that we should be objective when we apply our knowledge to situations that happened. I have witnessed certain incidents that I made be unable to invalidate the paranormal or supernatural. Other than subjecting to expert cross examinations, we need to look at a person in detail before we draw any conclusions.

I believe in the paranormal however I also think most of the experiences people report can be debunked through further investigation. There is a show called Ghost Hunters here in the states which many of you are probably are familiar with. One thing I always liked about their shows investigations is how they approach everything scientifically and don't jump to conclusions.
